I had to highlight this tribute to Mamoru Oshii's live action film "Stray Dogs - Keberos Panzer Cops" in the new animated movie "Patlabor EZY - File 1". They literally recreated almost all of the shots from the original 1991 trailer.

The biggest problem with Christopher Nolan is that he seems to be embarrassed by the kinds of movies he should be good at making. He should be making earnest, goofy blockbusters like James Cameron, but he desperately wants his work to be smarter than he actually is.

Can't help but notice every time a website ends up catering specifically to conservatives nobody's like "well this isn't healthy for The Discourse we've gotta break this shit up" but when we want like-minded communities it's suddenly a problem

You got a big jackpot dopamine bonanza when your favorite Simpsons episode was randomly on syndication that day or came across an MST3k marathon

A very serious Rural Politico once told me "Dems have to go to farmer meetings! We gotta be where the people are!" I was in fact in a farmer meeting at that very moment! So I live-texted him the meeting. They were complaining that they want indentured workers that they don't have to pay or feed.

But folks aren't despite the fact that our system does give disproportionate power to rural areas. But instead of taking that as the rules of the game as it exists, and actually organizing, we complain about it.
for the last couple of generations, medicine and social science has chipped away at our ability to write off people's failure to thrive as their own fault for being stupid, and annoying, and lazy, etc. Now we're confronted with the suffering our *system* creates, and so we're rejecting the science.
