So no, your “ironic” ableism isn’t funny. The casual acceptance of the r slur and eugenicist practices isn’t “no big deal”. This is recent shit. I have colleagues who remember institutions and would rather die than return. That’s what lots of the people in power want, frankly.

One of the larger reasons that progressive speech is getting shut down is that nonprofits are almost entirely downstream of billionaire largess (and dollars). We cannot fix things with nonprofits. We can only fix things by getting govs across the world filled with progressives.

Spend a bit of time in nonprofits and you’ll notice that the nonprofit industrial complex is largely uninterested in changing much - it exists to feed the people at the top and the food is prestige. They want to attend galas and play act that they care. They don’t.

There’s a reason that nonprofits and philanthropy are most prevalent in the US vs real democracies such as much of Northern Europe. Philanthropy is reputation washing for the rich. It’s not designed to fix things. Its core function is making people feel change is occurring while doing nothing.

tbh i don't care, i resent that we have to talk to people like politicians and sway them. the arguments are out there - people have made them loudly. the bigots don't want to listen. so fuck them, i'm not moving. and fuck you if you have a problem with that. i'm not changing a single damn thing.

i really hate talking about this at this point. but being trans, there is a time to try and have conversations and sway people, and there's a time to say "go fuck yourself" and say you're here and no one's ever gonna do anything about it. we are very firmly in the latter territory at this point.
