If anyone uses Stripe to get payments, go to your Settings (Gear icon) > Plans and Fees > Radar (View plan details) > View Plans > Scroll to "More Options" and select "Lite" I want none of the money I earn to go to AI if I can help it.

nice, now Stripe is auto-opting people into a nickel charge per transaction for "AI-enhanced" protection shit they never asked for you can change it back to their free "Lite" version, but the fact that it's opt-out by default is so fucking annoying

Thinking about Midsommar, I watched it while I was going through intense grief & kinda think that's something that gets missed about the cult, the way they run towards grief, touch it, share it, take it in whereas our world treats Dani like she's infected with it, like it's contagious & shameful.

I do think that the Era of Hot Takes has done some damage in that people really seem to be trying to crowdsource an ethical framework and you can't actually ask strangers to do your morality homework. you need to come to those decisions through hard personal thought so you believe in them.

Folks talk about the friends who drop you when your spouse is ill, but it still sucks when it happens. Had a friend of over 25 years just kinda get tired of me, give a speech like "why don't you just do things easy, because all this is so easy;" I suppose that made the distance mutual, but still :/

2. Adaptations can do whatever the creators want with the source material, and in many cases, the more they diverge from or push back against the original, the better. e.g. I love Wild Sargasso Sea (and I also love Jane Eyre).

Been asking folks to do this for about a year now because uh, yeah. Tip: look up the convention name and "guest request" and you're likely to find the form you need. (An email to the con also works or a social media comment!) Here's an example of Kumos: www.kumoricon.org/news/2026/gu...

yo can people start requesting the artists they like directly to con staff so we don’t have to do this dance of fighting 3d printed dragon sellers and print on demand ‘fashion’ designers for space

The ironic part is I think people may think it makes them look more "professional" and "slick," and as someone who used to do marketing for a lot of small business, honestly, people often respond better to rougher, more human designs.

If you use AI for your advertisement flyers, I'm going to make assumptions about you. I'm going to assume you cut corners on everything. If you're a bakery, I'm going to assume you use poor quality ingredients. If you're a handyman, same thing, I'll assume you cut corners on your work.

#cwspider So there's an orb weaver that decided to put up her web on THE INSIDE of my front door last night, and I'm trying to figure out how to move her outside. They just hang out in the center of their webs and run & hide when it's disturbed, so it's not as easy as a glass & piece of paper :/

People say scientists are serious but marine biologists will spend hours quietly sitting around tables drawing on styrofoam cups and then tying said cups to deep sea submarines Because ocean pressure will squeeze the air from the cups And we are but human & we want tiny cup

A hand holding four shrunken styrofoam cups the size of shot glasses. Two with jellyfish colored on them and two with black and white lines

I gotta tell you all, I know they all mean well, but I got about three or four men all telling me about the fonts selection on a rough draft I'm trying to have fun with and I'm about to burn a mf down.
