I’m sick of private companies ruining education! Why is it always buy more tech and not hire more teachers? Pay teachers? Smaller classrooms? Kids need hands on caring teachers! That’s how you receive education better suited for your kids! This is horrifying! Kids with disabilities deserve better!

@rweingarten.bsky.social, this is a horror. Teachers cited in this article say they're using "A.i." to develop lesson plans for kids with disabilities and imply that they're feeding student data into LLMs. This is using untested, dangerous teach on vulnerable kids AND possibly violating privacy law.

If people were just honest about how bad a president Reagan was instead of thinking about how good he made the country feel about dismantling the regulatory and social safety net, maybe we’d have stopped doing this bullshit sooner.

"Pronouns used to be a funny joke, Hank. Until the government tried to tell me I couldn't use them anymore. So now I'm adamant about making sure trans people are gendered right. Not for their sake. But because I'll be damned if the US government is going to tell me what words I can and can't use."

One of the things about generative AI that particularly infuriates me is that some of the most fun I’ve ever had has been teaching myself how to do things around my own constraints I’m bad at art too. But I have PaintShop Pro! So I found some tutorials and *taught myself to make book covers*

I own keffiyehs from my travels to Jordan and the West Bank. There's nothing wrong with them. I'd bet some were at this event. This is also a very specific and seemingly questionable framing that they led a newsletter with.
