I think what this article does most of all is demonstrate how 'don't speak ill of the dead' is just another tool of oppression: A social convention/mechanism designed to force people to hide their truths and experiences of another when it is not convenient or palatable for those wielding power.

They linked to me in that Telegraph article about Rod Liddle ffs. I didn't even warrant a name, just 'transgender activist'. At least they called me 'he'. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08...

There’s Alan MacLeod, a journalist, who describes Liddle as “a British columnist who relentlessly promoted racism, bigotry, and paedophilia”. Truth, it seems, is a minor inconvenience to those determined to prove a point. Then there’s Mic Wright, a Left-wing agitator with a book to flog, who is bold enough to declare that Liddle “was not some genius satirist but a bloviating bully with a taste for bigotry”. Séamas O’Reilly, an author, (no, me neither) ploughs the same furrow: “Haters focusing on Liddle’s violence toward his pregnant partner, his galloping racism, or his repeated defences of paedophilia, should remember to mention he was also one of the worst writers to ever do it,” he writes. Forget politics for a moment. It’s the sheer audacity of these people that’s so galling. How dare this motley collection of nobodies damn Liddle’s work? They are not fit to clean his boots. Then there are the big beasts who clearly see it as their responsibility to police the tone of discussions. A professor from the University of East Anglia warns: “Seriously, if you’re saying nice things about Rod Liddle, WE SEE YOU!!” A transgender activist, meanwhile, urges his followers to “speak ill of the dead if they deserve it”.

Happy Segregation Day everyone! Today will eventually go down in history as an infamous mistake and breach of human rights but not before it's caused huge amounts of pain and trouble. This Government will be remembered as the worst for trans rights ever, as bad as Thatcher's Section 28 if not worse.

Do try to remember that the EHRC guidance only affects service providers and not employment, so if you work somewhere where there are toilets or changing rooms for employees that aren’t open to the public then your employers are wrong if they try to stop you from using facilities for your gender

Have specifically not listened to #r4today on my drive this morning to avoid inevitable glowing tributes to a racist, transphobic, misogynist, child-fancying woman-beater. Instead I have treated half of the M1 to the Soup Dragons’s Lovegod played very loudly. Not listened to it in years. Banger.
