There probably was someone called Emily Wilson who wrote a critical review of Nolan’s Odyssey, but most of what we now think of as “Wilson’s review’ is probably the result of codifying a long tradition of anonymous Bluesky posting.

I always love watching tiny birds, like this marsh tit (glanskop), thoroughly explore something small, like a branch, in their quest for food. Most humans would walk past the branch without a thought, much less inspect it, but this bird spent half a minute closely examining every aspect. #birds

A marsh tit on top of a branch. It is standing upright, but its head is turned down to look at the tip of the branch. The bird is mostly an unassuming greyish brown, with a black cap and chin. A light drizzle is falling, causing the bird to look a little ruffled. Its wet tail is fanned out.The small bird is leaning all the way forward on the branch, so that it is almost dangling upside down. It is examining the branch from below, looking for small insects or invertebrates. Some rain drops are falling.

I cannot rest from discourse. I will see that film again tomorrow. I will drink life to the lees. Again I will enjoy greatly, will suffer greatly, both with those that love me, and in Pleasantville NY. I am become a meme. Film showing: burnsfilmcenter.org/booking/the-...

this is fucked on a few levels. first, the violation isn't with content hosted on YouTube itself, but has to do with linking out to "sexually gratifying" content on other platforms, often using aggregators like Linktree. SWers are very familiar with this; IG is notoriously strict about it, too

"We terminated these channels for linking to content that violates our nudity and sexual content policy," a spokesperson for YouTube told 404 Media in a statement. "Our external link policies apply equally to all creators across YouTube, and this action was taken in accordance with our long-standing policies, not as a change in policy or targeting of ASMR content."

this is troubling! we can’t rely on either detection software or “hunches” because people are biased; consider the handwringing about “proper” language, what constitutes the “literary,” etc. it’s already a pattern that it’s being used against writers of color — 3 Black authors, in this case.
