SEQ consistently produces high voter turnout but receives less resources to address climate catastrophe. It's also where waste-transfer stations are placed and battery plants proposed. SQREJC.org, of which Oster is a founding member, is the frontline EJ org for this majority-Black part of Queens.

I had the best time at the Queens Public Library, talking with our neighbors during the 2026 Day of Action Flood Preparedness! Much love to my SQREJC family. We'll make our community's homes flood-free!

It’s impossible to always follow every race in this city or state. When I’m trying to figure out my leanings and thoughts I always look to groups like @caringmrising.bsky.social to see what they are seeing and assessing. It cuts out the noise and the grifts. With them on Team Drew

CDAP, a good home-care program created by disabled people, has become a disaster since Hochul gave control over it to a private company, PPL. So far, DiNapoli's done nothing. @caringmrising.bsky.social is supporting @drewforny.bsky.social in part because he will audit PPL. youtu.be/drjAiTjBO3g?...

While the world’s eyes are on fashion’s biggest night, we’re turning ours to the garment, retail, and warehouse workers who keep the industry running. From true love found on the picket line to a free tailoring school out of a Brooklyn basement — meet the New Yorkers who make it all possible.

From Stonewall to No Kings, protest is part of New York City's DNA. But the so-called "buffer zone" legislation recently passed by the City Council would seriously restrict rallies, marches, and other forms of protest - essentially outlawing protest across large swathes of the five boroughs.

Text reads "Just says before a record-breaking No Kings march, the New York City Council passed dangerous legislation that would severely curtail protests like it."A photo of City Council Speaker Julie Menin at podium with a mic. Text reads "The City Council passed Intros. 001-B and 175-B, which would stifle protest outside of places of religious worship and educational facilities, respectively. We need Mayor Mamdani to veto these bills and protect our right to protest."

Trump has launched a war of “fury,” to “raze” and “annihilate,” that has already killed dozens of Iranian girls, reportedly cost the lives of U.S. servicemembers, and will kill many more of both. He is acting without authorization by Congress and flouting international law.

As we plunge headlong into another catastrophic war, Sen. Schumer and Rep. Jeffries’ throat clearing and process critique only serves Trump and the war machine. Democrats should speak clearly and with one voice: no war.

Shared suhoor before dawn with DSNY workers before they headed out to prepare New York City for the blizzard. Up before the sun, doing the work that keeps our city moving. They’re called NY’s Strongest for a reason.

We know that clean, renewable wind and solar energy are now the cheapest sources of power. But rather than embracing the transition to clean energy, Gov. Hochul is promoting expensive, slow to build and dangerous nuclear power and other false solutions including bio-fuels and renewable natural gas.

Woah: Hochul wants New York to build *5 GW* of nuclear power, up from 1 GW she announced last year. That’s more than has been built in the US in the past 30 years. via @syracuse.com:

I'll never say it's too late. But the hour is late. I hope you'll take the time in the next weeks and days and hours to find your organizing home and do what you can to push back against fascism.

Recently was contemplating what other feelings invoke home. Today I’m sitting in PYO Chai and eating momos and the music reminds me of long car tips with my dad filled with desi ghazals. It wraps me in a childhood hug
