When they realized they were being filmed, they simply walked away, leaving the man on the ground with a handcuff attached to one arm. The Las Vegas Police found no outstanding warrants for the man and removed his handcuffs.

I think the Platner thing hit me so hard bc it was one of the most protracted, widespread acts of misogynist gaslighting from my own side that I've seen. We were presented with an obvious violent scumbag who was constantly lying (badly, might I add) and told we were crazy for not loving him
So…wanting people to be allowed to redeem themselves is entirely valid. The thing is, in order to give someone a second chance they need to be honest about what wrongs they’ve done, committed to change, and be able to point to what they’ve done to better themselves since
"don't be a rapist" doesn't seem like a particularly high bar to clear, dating history-wise, but thanks for telling on yourself for the ten thousandth time

this dynamic described by jenny racicot is, as i understand it, very common among progressive women in maine. they’ve been put in an impossible position and feel like they’re tanking platner’s campaign when in reality he did that on his own by being a violent and reckless person.
