Sara, 30+. AuDHD, queer, Jewish diasporist. Public sector paralegal by day, nerd by night.

My stint in a cosplay burlesque + variety show troupe. We didn't get paid much, but the fact I got paid to rip the pants off a cardboard cutout of Sebastian Michaelis on stage *at all* is a fever dream in retrospect.

Happy labor day (USA). What's one of the oddest paid job you've had? Mine was probably as a reader for a medical professor at Rutgers, whose eyes were failing. I read him many academic texts, as well as Samuel Butler's "The Way of All Flesh."

Friday morning, I was gardening when I checked my phone. A request had gone out for help. For 25+ hours, ICE had been laying siege to a quiet neighborhood in Frederick, MD. Community members were afraid, some didn’t want to leave their homes. ICE vehicles seemed to be lurking on every corner.

ICE vehicle - black Nissan Maxima with plate cover - posted up in a spot that also serves as an elementary school bus stop. Another ICE vehicle, black Dodge Durango, lurking around the community. Two more ICE vehicles - black Dodge Durango and a white SUV, unclear on make, model - on a quiet residential street, being quietly creepy. Note that the white SUV has its plate covered. Yet another ICE vehicle. Black Nissan Pathfinder. They were all over the neighborhood.

Even from a purely national pride perspective, this requires you to think that the 100 year period from 1926 was a failure for the United States, instead of the zenith of its power, prosperity, and influence

One of these days we're going to have to bring up the awkward fact that the "status quo" everyone defends at the Temple Mount is one where Jewish presence at historically Jewish sites is considered an abominable provocation. We have enshrined supercession.

This is why I'm doing this. This article describes Jews praying to God at the holiest site in Judaism as an act of violence. Calling it by its Arabic name instead of the Kotel or the Western Wall is a deliberate choice, as is claiming that everyone there is a settler.

Post by "True Agency - EN", @newsrealtime.bsky.social.

"More than 50,000 settlers stormed the plaza of the Buraq Wall in the west of Al-Aqsa Mosque last night and held Talmudic rituals known as 'Selichot.'"

The image along with the post shows the Kotel plaza filled with people at night.

New moderation list! It's very simple. If you use the phrase "Talmudic rituals" unironically, or describe Jewish civilians as "storming" a place, you go on this list.

When I was in prepartum depression hell, I told my now-ex his unwillingness to hug me made me feel unloved and unwanted. He replied by showing me a random Tumblr post about how asking for even nonsexual touch from an ace person is "rapey." Weaponized badtakery is an every generation problem, sadly.

Apparently she was in the lunchroom and heard one girl telling another girl that her boyfriend telling girl that she is pretty is not just objectifying her, but actually fetishizing her

The parties of the Likud, "Jewish Power", Religious Zionism, and the new "People of Israel" party are all running on an explicit, unabashed platform of the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from Gaza as the "solution". Rabbi Kahane's racist legacy is the Israeli government's policy.

Awful. Just awful. A promising young man, a high school honors grad who joined JROTC and dreamed of becoming a doctor, killed himself because of the Trump admin’s obsession with hurting Haitians and the humiliating shame of an ICE ankle monitor. His blood is on their hands.

A picture of a young black man, dressed in a light blue suit with a smart black bow tie, smiling as he is handed a diploma from a school official, a white man in his 40s-50s who is also smiling. Underneath is the caption “Pierre Damas Bel receives his high school diploma. (Family Photo/Instagram)”Bel arrived in the United States in 2024 in order to reunite with his parents, who had fled Haiti three years before. The family was granted temporary protected status, purchased a home in Springfield and settled into life in the U.S. Bel dreamed of studying medicine and graduated high school last May with honors and as a proud member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), his father said. He was the eldest of three siblings and his family described him as smart and responsible.

“A Haitian immigrant who had grown increasingly distraught after losing his protection from deportation and being outfitted with an ankle monitor was run over and killed Monday in what his family believes was a suicide.” www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

The shooting at a Tucson gay bar last night that left 3 men dead has been confirmed as a hate crime by Mayor Romero. The killer was found with addresses of “multiple LGBTQ+ friendly venues”. To the friends and families of the victims and to the LGBTQ+ community, I send my deepest sympathy.
