In my humble brown opinion, the trans rights movement urgently needs to draw from decolonial movements which have successfully toppled entire regimes by creating radical organizations that encourage and publicize targeted boycotts of specific companies that fund and enable genocide.

In other words, NYT is increasingly becoming a gaming and recipe company, with revenue from that business helping subsidize the higher costs of their journalism (which has been weaponized in favor of trans genocide). They depend on liberals not caring enough to boycott them.

Squishiness on trans rights is a dealbreaker for me because (a) it’s a straightforward issue of personal freedom and bodily autonomy much like abortion, and (b) the right is obviously coming after us cis gays next.

FYI there is no "real" reason why Rome "fell." Its power waned for the usual, mundane reasons: widening gap between rich and poor, inability to maintain infrastructure, incompetent leadership, pointless wars, endless persecution of marginalized groups who performed vital labor, etc.

This is tangential, but as a gay dude I have found it to be a necessary act of self preservation to reject “all men are trash” and its ilk. That shit is fundamentally destructive and homophobic

One of the common responses is some sort of “oh we don’t mean gay men” because the silent second clause of that is “because gay men aren’t real men” which is revolting.

Every article about the effects of global warming that doesn't mention global warming is unnatural. It's like if articles about car accidents never mentioned that cars were involved, and only described the victim's injuries. It's not only bad journalism, at this point it's pro-oil propaganda.

Talking about suicide in a trans rights context is like talking about suicide in a gun violence context. It is necessary to speak plainly because the policies are the problem and you can't oppose the policies by mincing words.

There are a lot of well-meaning guidelines on suicide prevention that frankly should not apply when the government is intentionally causing a suicide epidemic in a specific minority population.
