Approach zine making the same way that you made blog posts 10 years ago. Do you have an opinion that maybe 8 friends and like 3 strangers might be interested in? An answer to a question that's infrequently asked? A rant you could turn into a tight 5? that's zine material right there, buds
This reminds me that I saw someone talking about wanting to make zines, but wasn't sure what they wanted to make a zine about. And the truth is you can make zines about anything at all, but that's not exactly helpful in getting started, so here's my advice for other aging millennials:

I was born and raised in Northern Ontario and I am absolutely boiling with rage at the ways in which people elsewhere are talking about the forest fires there as though this is a common occurrence. The air thick with smoke for kilometers, entire communities wiped out - this shit is not normal.
I had to stop and take a few minutes to doodle out a little dreamt visual of Mr Darcy.
