Woke but sleepy, except at night. Workaholic MarTech geek turned stay at home mum. Reliant on 90% Lindt. Always neurodivergent, painfully Gen X, furiously perimenopausal & too bendy. Intoleraces: intolerance, gluten, lactose, histamine, stress & exercise

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

Good news, the audio version of Neurodiversity: A Very Short Introduction is out now on Audible, Spotify, etc.! I also have three codes for free Spotify copies, so we can do a competition. Just share and like this and I'll pick three people at random to get the codes this weekend.

Yellow and green book stood up on a wooden desk next to a houseplant.

Tim Cook donated $1M to Trump’s inauguration. He fawned over Trump and gifted him a 24-karat gold plaque (as Apple lobbied for tariff exemptions). Apple donated to Trump’s White House ballroom. And it removed ICE tracking apps from its stores following a demand from the DOJ. Remember this.

Personally, I always got the impression that “and I feel fine” was more about conveying numbness than actual peace or confidence in the face of the end of the world as we know it. No idea why that’s on my mind now, though.

Neurodivergent parenting often feels like a built in contradiction. We’re expected to raise the next generation of "functioning" adults while our own internal systems, autistic or ADHD, are frequently designed in direct opposition to the world we’re raising them in. 1/7

I’ve stopped apologising for being neurodivergent. Liberation isn't just "tolerance"; it’s dismantling an economy that demands we be "normal" to survive. We need a society where we are valued for who we are, not how well we mimic the "perfect worker." We aren't broken; the system is. 6/6

Trying to be proudly AuDHDtastic today. I told my 7-year-old what ADHD is and that I have it - and he immediately said, “Oh, I think I have that too!” He's absolutely chuffed about it so I must be doing something right. 🥲

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Armchair diagnosing neurodiversity isn’t cool, but neither is recklessly claiming there’s an “overdiagnosis” of autism and ADHD. So I just have some questions… What if politics and journalism are especially attractive careers for people who are neurodivergent, but don't know it? 1/7 #adhd #autism
