"the moment you compromise the rights of a trans person in America, you compromise the rights of every citizen in America" - AOC quite healing to hear a single politician actually articulate this basic basic point

Trans voter to @aoc.bsky.social: Trans people in America feel like they've been abandoned by the Democratic Party, that we are a losing issue, that it's not worth defending us. What do you say to that? AOC:

(2/2) [...] while in 2026 we've seen the reality of living in a society whose vital infrastructures are utterly at the mercy of a bunch of out-of-touch technophile plutocrats who've turned a child's understanding of science into a substitute religion, and it's *so much worse*.

Remember when we, as a society, would invest in and patronize creativity? We would celebrate works of art and creative innovation. Remember when hobbies werent a luxury? We could consume without choosing between necessities or entertainment. Remember when the world wasnโ€™t built to bleed you dry?

Writing tie-ins is *a real fucking skill* and anyone who sneers at the people who do it can go piss up a rope. You think it's easy to write an entire novel to very specific order on an almost impossibly tight deadline? And have it be satisfying to read? Motherfucker, *you* try it. See how you do.

There is a doofus currently arguing here that no "creative talent" would choose to write tie-ins, and since I just did a panel this weekend on why creative talents choose to write IP, here are a few reasons. Non-financial reasons, for fun and because frankly it usually doesn't pay that well.

I was sexually abused as a child. I'm not the only person I know who can say that. If I'd been forced to let ANYONE perform that sort of examination in order to play sports, a thing children need for health--both physical and mental? I am not unique. Vote no on unnecessarily traumatizing our kids.

Doctors and nurses are voicing their objections. I-638 would require EVERY girl who wants to participate in sports to go through biological sex verification. That means expensive, invasive, and utterly gross examinations. Protect our kids and let them play. Vote NO on I-638

It's essential that a fucked up vampire be fucked up in at least one way that's completely unrelated to the fact of them being a vampire, which is actually quite difficult to achieve because vampirehood is a cogent metaphor for so many flavours of upfuckery.

Things I wish I'd understood sooner as an AuDHD progressive beyond that would have saved me, and others, frustration. 1. Injustice Trigger Unfairness, whether it is games or political climate, is EXTREMELY activating and/or triggering and it's common with ADHD and autism.
