I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

This is a really important framing for conversations about congestion pricing. Drivers are both already paying *and* inflicting a high cost on our communities. A critical part of reducing car dependency is understanding how it hurts all of us.

Taxes are unpopular, but it always bears repeating: If you’re driving into Boston you’re going to pay. It’s just a question of whether you pay with your time, or your money. These ideas would be unpopular and also punish all drivers, including those in rural parts of the state where traffic isn’t a problem. But it’s also worth stating the obvious: The cost of using our roads has never been free. Taxpayers fund construction and maintenance, we just don’t think about it. Beyond time lost in congestion, driving pollutes our air, contributing to respiratory problems and climate change.

Summary: Former MA Transportation Secretary Tibbits-Nutt was right, but too few in a position of responsibility had the courage to stand up for her. We lost a good one right there IMO. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/07/26/o...

stop. if you think the existence of a warrant is part of the conversation in any way, you cannot, by definition, argue that it makes any difference whether the guy they killed had a warrant or not. because right guy or wrong guy, an arrest warrant isn't a death sentence.

BREAKING: BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - Homeland Security secretary said man killed by ICE in Maine was not the target of warrant, Maine Sen. Angus King says.

I haven't looked at social media comments, but I'm sure there is victim blaming. Which is bullshit as always, but especially with someone like Louisa, who was an experienced urban rider. She is dead because of a driver but also unsafe infrastructure and political inaction. It's that simple.

Just a reminder: if I'm killed by a driver while I'm walking or biking, the local safe street advocates have my permission to use my death as a bludgeon against electeds who have made insufficient progress on safer streets

Statement from @bikeboston.bsky.social, @streetsboston.bsky.social, and @walkmass.bsky.social about Louisa Gag, who was hit and killed by a driver today. Yet another life taken because our society and leaders refuse to address the destruction wrought by cars.

We are devastated by the loss of Boston resident and transportation planner, Louisa Gag. On Thursday morning, a driver struck and killed Louisa on her bicycle commute to city hall along Tremont Street near Roxbury Crossing.
Louisa Gag is not just a number on a spreadsheet; she was a champion for safer streets, a vibrant part of the planning and advocacy community, and a person dedicated to fixing the very system that failed her.
