imo calling ~*~it~*~ "woke 1" (which, imu, did not emerge as a colloquialism for an amorphous recent past from aave like the word woke itself) at all is like indicative of the hollowness of whatever the phrase is attempting to describe; the vague twisting of language is like nails on a chalkboard.
Can’t count how many times the dystopian stuff that make people want to abolish ICE is also something that’s already being used by police or subjected upon people in the criminal legal system.

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.
this ship has sailed, but the people whose conditions were most locked down were the people in prisons who had no PPE and no health care. some even got coerced into making eleven million gallons of hand sanitizer in New York, a bunch of which went to waste
New York made 11M bottles of hand sanitizer. Now it has 700,000 gallons it can't get rid of.
Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered the production of the hand sanitizer by the state's prison system. A spokesperson said he makes "no apologies for single-handedly solving a hand sanitizer shortage."
