1. Most bicycles are not going 25 mph 2. Bike crashes involving pedestrians are rarely fatal because of lower speeds and mass 3. The risks posed by bicyclists and cars to pedestrians are not equivalent 4. Why does no one ever say, "I support cars but they need to operate within traffic laws."

You can’t hear a bicycle coming at you and at 25 mph, there is enough force there to kill you. Both vehicles and bikes are hazardous to pedestrians. 

I support bikes but they need to operate within traffic laws as everyone else has to.

Every Canadian I know has said sorry to a wall, door, fence, tree, or some other mostly inanimate object after they've walked into it. I have a friend who apologizes so much, that I'll say "hey, stop apologizing" and her response is "yeah, sorry".

Air line strike (solidarity!) means trying to find another way home tomorrow. Can't rely on the original carrier doing us justice. Mad dash for overpriced, but refundable train tickets this morning.
