No more Sims games for us. No more EA games either, for that matter. Some words on why.

One of the best games of all time (Also when Ken Levine didn't suck)
Don't know why all my posts keep getting sent more than once and cut off but it's really annoying
Games, comics, books.. hell, media in general needs to stop straight-up telling people what to think of their characters and story tropes Makes you look really unconfident in your material when you have to tell people what to think instead of letting it speak for itself
Friends, #weebwednesday is upon us once again! You know the drill - quote-post with your weebiest hot takes, nothing racist, nothing intentionally inflammatory, have fun with it ♥
The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.
Getting real sick of slop midwives pleading for a 'respectful discussion' of AI as relates to the arts. Your use of AI to 'make art' is not respectful. It benefits from stolen art, destroys the planet, and does not make you an artist any more than someone driving 26.2 miles is a marathoner.
One (big) disagreement is when Stephens, after listing all you should never use AI for, says, “Do none of these things not because they are unethical.” In light of the harms AI and its pusher companies are inflicting (e.g., below), refusing b/c of ethics should absolutely be part of one’s thinking
An absolute must (but be warned, deeply disturbing) read. Incredible reporting by @markfollman.bsky.social Bring all your booster-ish arguments, and I’ve got one reply: there are no “benefits”, real or potential, that can ever outweigh the terrible harms of these deathbots.
Yes. We do not study the past with a view to feelgood vibes. Sometimes we encounter events and people that do that, but it is not the *purpose* of serious or just basically honest study.
Truth. #History
Also a correct take on the EA situation! The worst people own one of the most unpopular game publishers of all time and plan to use it for purposes beyond merely making exploitative games and destroying development studios. It's absolutely stunning and a turning point for gaming.
"saudi arabia owns EA" is going to be the headline you see basically everywhere for this one but "jared kushner is about to use EA as a vehicle for trump administration bribes" is equally relevant imo
Yay I don't have to listen to shit eating fanboys tell me I'm a homophobe because I say Dragon Age sucks You dipshits now support a terror state, good job!
EA is now owned by Saudi Arabia and Donald Trump's son-in-law
I know most of everyone on here couldn't care less about Electronic Arts products, but now you can care EVEN LESS THAN THAT

That's 100% why I created leavesubstack.com -- got tired of re-hashing the points; wanted to make a simple 1-pager.
You Should Probably Leave Substack
You should probably leave Substack. Here’s why and how.

Never interact with Joker avatars Phony fucking baloney chuds who try to pretend they're selfless and altruistic when all they actually give a fuck about is themselves
When someone's big "apology" makes it very clear they just view you as their personal commodity who they can treat however they like (but woe to you if you ever clap back) and who owes them free money just because

Every blog I learned writing from is still out there, completely searchable. Many of them are still updating. MY blog is still updating. And that's just blogs. Reddits, Discords, authors on socials... We literally cannot and have never shut up about How To Write and Get Published.
Seeing complaints online that authors 'gatekeep' information…! Absolute nonsense. There is no industry or craft in the world which is so comprehensively written about, studied, and discussed as fiction writing, and every author I know welcomes new writers who are serious about giving it a go.

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

turns out politicians can just.... do good things for their constituents?
When Uber Eats and DoorDash hid the tip button, delivery workers paid the price. Tips fell by 79%. In January, we changed that. Since then, more than $104 million has gone back into the pockets of the delivery workers who keep New York City fed.
eBay still sucks Well I guess not the site so much as the brickheads who use it
The only reason BlueSky is a thing is that it gave people fleeing Nazi Twitter a plug-and-play place to reconnect with the people and formerly good parts of Twitter they enjoyed without turning every conversation into an edge lord fight club of bigotry.

The CEOs aren't smarter than you. They're not making rational, savvy decisions on behalf of shareholders, customers, and employees. They're entitled idiots with their heads up their own asses, endlessly siphoning the fruits of other people's ideas and labor. And they're usually criminals, tbh.
What am I currently playing? Splatoon Raiders - Cuz sometimes you just want to shoot and loot Final Fantasy VII - Checking out various mods. I really like the updated character models and Shinra Archaeology mods in 7th Heaven Final Fantasy IX - Just a GOATed game. (Also trying out Memoria mod)
