#OtD 29 Jul 1962 fascist Oswald Mosley tried to march with the Union Movement in Manchester, UK. However, he was attacked by anti-fascists and had to be rescued by police. A Mosley speech later was drowned out by a crowd of anti-fascists. More info: www.patreon.com/posts/e37b-6...
Word of warning for cycling around Harrison Park. The Harrison Road bridge over the canal is now fully closed except for the footpath due to new works. It's not clearly signed if you are used to it being open for bikes. Have seen a couple of cyclists almost crash in to the heras fencing @edi.bike
People took to the streets of Leith on Sunday with a different message from the racist attacks of 19th June. Leith is for everyone - we are stronger in diversity.
A few of the placards seen today as the fash got chased off Buchanan Street. Never forget: the far right are indeed dangerous and wicked; and they are also weird and pathetic, and we should say so.
First ever Green constituency, a huge moment! I am sure James Kelly will wish to issue a profuse apology to me. I shan't be reading his website for it, mind you. Also I got pelters for saying Angus Robertson was leading a dishonest campaign. This was yesterday. Vindication through. the. roof. ^AF

#EdTravCyc just encountered that Lower Gilmore Place is closed parallel to the canal for a big crane - you can divert round via Lochrin Quay or Leamington Road but there's lots of equipment moving around @edi.bike
“One mile on a bike is a $.42 economic gain to society, one mile driving is a $.20 loss.” “Which means that Copenhagen, a city of 1.2 million people, saves $357 million a year on health costs because something like 80% of its population commutes by bike.” #CityMakingMath Some costs aren’t costs.

Copenhagen, the bicycle-friendliest place on the planet, publishes a biannual Bicycle Account, and buried in its pages is a rather astonishing fact.

More student accommodation proposed for Gorgie @rosssmckenzie.bsky.social how can we get affordable housing developments in Gorgie rather than this?

Union Path closures 9am-5pm daily until next Wednesday 3rd September. They'll be moving southwards generally, so hopefully cycle access should be possible by Harrison Park in later stages. It should be a manned closure. www.scottishcanals.co.uk/boating/ongo... #EdTravCyc @edi.bike @spokes.org.uk
There's a temporary closure of the Union Canal towpath at Harrison Park due to tree works (today 26/08). A diversion is signposted @edinburghminute.bsky.social @edcriticalmass.bsky.social @spokes.org.uk @sw20.info

This little parable is a nice illustration of why it is important for mainstream parties to set and uphold clear, bright line anti-prejudice norms, and of why the failure of senior Conservatives to do so risks doing great harm to their party
The contrast in reporting these stories is nuts, right? It's not just me?
Yesterday's lunchtime walk through the southside led me to stumble upon a popop woodcut/linoprint exhibition by Masha Tiplady on East Crosscauseway Well worth popping in if you are in the area #Edinburgh @secretedinburgh.bsky.social
Dear Mr. Clegg I have started a business, selling the contents of your house I knew when I launched I did not have legal access your house Without this access my company will not be profitable Others have told me I have a flawed business model, but I disagree Please advise how I should proceed
Don't give a fuck about immigration or where people come from or who is living in this country. And in my experience the only people who do are racists. Don't know why that conversation is so difficult.
On the corner of Rose Street North Lane #Edinburgh Have walked passed it countless times without noticing
Ok Edinburgh peeps, I want to know about your favourite MUNDANE, hidden in plain sight things. You know the kinda thing: signs, pipes, drain covers, stonework, door-knockers, street art, shop fronts, doorways, tenement tiles, ornaments, gates etc that you like but suspect no-one else even notices.

This is why CEOs don't like the phrase 'work-life balance'.
Must admit I'm enjoying EPCR TV coverage with no commentary much more that PremierSports. Better quality stream, good audio and camera angles. Although the sad clip of Muncaster on crutches in the tunnel at half time was a bit much
One of the highlights (of many) this Christmas has been this fab natural orange wine 'KIKO PER KIKO' that I picked up from @atgbeer.bsky.social on their recommendation. We had it with a Keralan sprout curry
