Sitting on my front steps on a residential street and not a single motherfucker can drive down it at a reasonable speed

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

Hey Minnesota won and the nudification technology ban will go into effect tomorrow at 12:00AM!
The first rule of road design should be: Make drivers afraid of damaging their cars.
Public works has reduced the driving space so much that you almost can't do anything but drive the speed limit past this elementary school. This is outrageous. It's like they have no concern for the people who left home 5 minutes late to drive their kids to school two towns over.
A ladder on the cargo bike definitely gets some looks. I even stopped at the hardware store for a few supplies. Just another day. #CarryShitOlympics #CargoBike
My brand new ebike got stolen by somebody breaking into my garage and I’m beside myself. I’m not sure my insurance will cover it and I can’t afford to replace it and I’m just so sad
Imagine seeing a red light, a no-turn-on-red sign, a crosswalk, and a bikeway, then deciding the correct place to stop your 18-wheeler is on top of all of it.
Eggbert’s first day of boot camp. He would like everyone to know that he is already a very good boy.
Hell yeah! Almost seven years after Theodore Ferrara was killed by a driver on Lyndale, and we started advocating for serious change, we got there. It's not a perfect design (there are a lot of things I'd do differently), but it's light-years better than the 2019 status quo.
Lyndale plan approved by the city council 8-4! This isn't veto proof, but I'm not too worried. Mayor Frey probably isn't the level of maniac as these council members who voted no: Warren, Shaffer, Rainville, Vetaw.
The ride home was a lot less smoky than the ride in, but we figured we’d keep the superhero look going. 😷🚲 #MSPCycleCast #WildfireSmoke
Drone program failed on 6-6 vote over concerns about surveillance, mistrust of MPD, and drone vendor Skydio working with Israel and ICE.
Mayor Frey says voting down drone first responder program would make "our own residents collateral damage because of geopolitics." Says other cities are moving to this tech. In addition to surveillance concerns, many have been critical of the drone vendor working with Israel.
The Lyndale Ave reconstruction was approved 8-4 at the Minneapolis City Council meeting this morning! We've been working on this #LivableLyndale effort for over three years and believe this new street design will be a great improvement to the area. I hope that Mayor Frey will approve too.

I could still taste the smoke through my mask, so I added a bandana over it and tucked it under my helmet straps. That made a huge difference. #MSPCycleCast #WildfireSmoke
I've been playing around with a project to share fresh, mapped, street-view bike infrastructure images. The idea is that if you could see what your route looked like yesterday/last week/last month when someone else rode it, it might be easier to get out the door. lane.kleinbaum.us

Today on the Wedge LIVE podcast: What is the phone number for the Minneapolis pedicab regulatory authority? My pedicab driver was too sassy and sarcastic. It made me uncomfortable.

If you’re ever lost in the wilderness, just build a cycle path because someone is bound to pull up in their car and park in it.

Without the extremes I’m not sure if I’d enjoy the good weather days as much.🚲 #Minneapolis
OK, nothing like the extremes of temperature endured by the Tour de France cyclists at the moment ....but cycling in #Helsinki (mostly on the #helsinkiBikeCommute) has an interesting temperature spread this year: -26℃ on 30 January and +28℃ today
This makes me so happy. Over the years I’ve learned just how practical cargo bikes can be. Now I’m seeing more families around Minneapolis figuring that out too, even in the middle of winter.

Uptown is still struggling with the loss of the railroad. So. Many. Darn. Bikes.
they’re counting the pandemic as part of uptown’s struggles. MIX IT ALL TOGETHER
"I think that's really important to just make clear to the public: This construction project (Lyndale Ave) is going to have an impact on the area, whether we have bike facilities or other amenities. With a 100-year-old street that really needs reconstruction..." 1/2
In reality it's an 18 month project. Uptown Association has been spreading misinformation that it's a 3 year project. This freedom fighter just updated it to 10 years for emphasis.
