There are so many more important things in the world but please please please please please please for the love of all that looks nice and made by humans, don't create AI slop.

Imagine how this stadium campus would play if we got rid of I-94 on its southern edge. Because right now, walking across that highway is an ugly reminder that Saint Paul can't have nice things. It's loud, and barren, and ugly, and smelly, and dangerous. Bring me regional rail, parkland, and housing.

Here's your terrazzo and dining intel from the new Midway Diner by Vincent Francoual on the developing Allianz Field campus. Delicious coffee and eggs. Lemon curd pancakes. Pretty location on a lawn that the toddlers couldn't resist this morning. A Line, B Line, Green Line. Go before it's swamped.

Patio tables under an orangey-red and white striped umbrella, backed by orange flowers with the Midway Loon in the right background.

And a reminder that the reason the councilmembers were out and about is that today is Transit to Work Day! And I'm gonna say this--if you think that transit doesn't work for you because it adds time on to your commute to work and that rules it out--it adds time to mine too. To _everyone's_.

Vote yes! Passing the MN constitutional amendment on this year’s ballot will increase funding to all public schools including about $1,000,000 per year to Minneapolis Public Schools. Don’t skip it - leaving this question blank is the same as voting no. (PS - Edison scored!)

Driverless cars would be great for seniors in rural communities, for example. But tech companies aren't going to make a lot of money catering to those people. The money is only going to be made in cities and by catering to wealthy people. That will most certainly come at the expense of transit.

To be fair, this is exactly what people said about Uber and Lyft. And there have been studies about how much more people drive when they don't have to worry about parking on one or both ends of their trip. There's little reason to think driverless cars won't lead to an explosion in VMT in cities.

Driverless cars would both reduce car ownership and motivate use of non-car alternatives, imo. Having to call, wait, and pay per use will tip some people towards biking, especially.

This is a good roundup for sewists on how to avoid AI slop patterns. I’d also recommend looking at Threadloop, which allows the community to flag patterns that are suspicious re: use of stolen/AI images #sewingsky jessilouscloset.substack.com/p/ai-sewing-...
