The NYT is out here being explicitly fascist and anti women and we can't even get liberals to admit the NYT is anti trans as even like a starting point of criticism.

We tried to warn you, you indulged in your little transphobic fantasy. You thought you could just have a little transphobia in some areas and not others and that's not possible. You made this world too. Now unmake it, it's your job.

Everyone keeps trying to appease the nazis by being more like the nazis and all that happens is you get more nazis if only there were some sort of historical precedent for understanding this process
*racking my brain for a way to outsmart every side of the discourse* Actually, it should properly be called the Boots Theorem if you think about it.
i cannot get over how funny the moderation tag on this is

And that's how the media treat everything the establish don't like. It's everywhere. Experiment in basic income all yield tremendous benefits, but never get implemented. Supporting trans children in their transition is supported by a mountain of evidence, yet remain perceived as experimental.
Just so everyone knows, this is a tried-and-true mainstream media tactic. For progressives/leftist candidates, every election is a “crucial test” and any loss would serve as proof to the media that the latest left-side moment is at its end. Any win, though, just means it’s time to find a new test.
this issue at hand isn't whether or not Jennings is a transphobe in his heart, it's that he decided to take time out of his day to respond to polite criticism from a trans woman with a much smaller platform than him with a shitty joke that subsequently blasted her so far as to get global coverage
The ‘Jeopardy!’ host made it absolutely clear where he stands once again.
Politicians: It's important to protect children. That's why I'm launching the Kick Puppies In The Head Initiative. People: Kicking puppies isn't even going to protect children. Why do you want to kick puppies? Politicians: oh, so you want children hurt by rabid dogs? People: wt-actual-f?
"trans women aren't a monolith" speak for yourself, I am massive and rock hard
Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
It's now been over a month since the Trump regime openly declared they intend to eliminate trans people from the United States and not a single Democrat or mainstream media figure or celebrity has cared enough to even mention it.
you should, in most aspects of life, be kind to people and willing to step up and apologize. but not with fascists, not with general ghouls, not with transphobes, not with racists, not with businesses, not with elites, not with anyone with a whiff of power or malevolence
As much as radicals get criticized for being "unrealistic," demanding entire demographics facing literal genocide always maintain mild rhetoric and actions is an absolutely delusional level of conformity to expect. I don't think that gets said enough.
Beira's Place was literally founded because Rowling was outraged that existing rape crisis services weren't formally refusing employment and services to trans women. Transmisogyny is literally the purpose for which it was founded. It has no reputation to damage.
This is why you dont try to compromise or concede anything to these horrors
As I've said OVER AND OVER - it's better to NOT support us in the first place than to say you do then back down at the first sign of confrontation or hardship. That is literally just gaslighting us and is actually WORSE than those that just straight up oppose our existence.
The email from Amnesty International UK is even more gaslighting than their public statement… 😖 Including ‘gender critical’ transphobic tropes such as “rolling back women’s hard won rights” and treating trans people with “dignity”! F*ck them!!! 😖😣 Donation cancelled.
i don’t care if ppl read the nyt but it’s one of those ‘keep it to yourself’ things, like harry potter, and def don’t get shitty if some minority is all ‘why tf you reading the nyt?!’ ignore and move on if that bothers you tho i suspect the reason it bothers you is cos deep down you know it’s wrong
In the past, I've collaborated with various chapters of Amnesty International to create resources and give talks in different countries. Today, following their "apology" to JKR for shedding light on transphobic human rights violations in the UK, I publicly distanciate myself from that organization.
I've been seeing a lot of people responding to this with "there ought to be a law," but importantly, we haven't needed a law for this sort of thing because no prior president wanted to be known as a leader who would literally kill people in their hour of need for not voting for him
This is honestly one of the most shocking images coming out of this administration and that’s saying something
if you are bigoted against trans folks you will not stop there and I know it you are either already racist, sexist, or homophobic or you are on your way there and I will not join you for your journey
trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry
as a straight dude I agree too. it's evidence of a weak will and/or poor attachment to good values, and we've all got LGBT friends or family. more practically I've seen way too many people go batshit fucking crazy down the transphobia waterslide
Squishiness on trans rights is a dealbreaker for me because (a) it’s a straightforward issue of personal freedom and bodily autonomy much like abortion, and (b) the right is obviously coming after us cis gays next.
