Universal healthcare is a wildly popular centrist position. It is also a pro business position as it boosts labor market dynamism and removes what for most firms is a non core operation and cost. Asking how it will be paid for in a system as rife w/ inefficiencies as the US sort of misses the point
It's almost always true that the Democratic candidates, both centrists and progressives, are ultimately more gracious and pragmatic than the dead-enders who post about them on social media.
My ice-cold boring take that will definitely not go viral is that a primary result with a margin of victory of roughly 1 percent tells you precisely nothing about The Future Of The Party.
It is incredibly unlikely that Mamdani would forgo a second term as mayor to become a senator. Furthermore, it totally depends on what AOC wants to do in 2028.

The entire Republican Party, and a chunk of the Democratic Party, have a direct interest in convincing you that conservative wins are a mandate and anything else is not.
Another reason why I think the freak out from moderates and centrists about the DSA is overblown: The largest and most effective chapter is in proximity to the strongest media market in the country.

If El-Sayed crushes Stevens tonight, as seems likely, it would be nice if we could finally do away with this notion that AIPAC can single-handedly buy elections. If anything, this race shows how much their influence has diminished inside the party over the past few years. Good riddance, too.
America, since the founding, has refused to have an established church. While this is still a good position, it has caused American Christianity to have a persistent paranoia and anxiety about their place in society.
As long as there are humans there will always be the humanities.
This is the problem with populism: you cannot build a republic on a foundation of conspiracies. Corruption and special interests are real challenges, but reducing politics to “us” against “them” infantilizes the electorate and sows the seeds of authoritarian rule.

I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
I don't think Hasan is an ideological antisemite like his uncle or Fuentes or whatever. I think he's a fool, and he's on board with the socialism of fools because he has a room-temp IQ.
If socialism, as in seizing the means of production and the abolition of capital, wasn’t popular among Americans during some of our worst economic crises (Great Depression, GFC) then it’s just not happening. Social Democracy is as far as this country will get and even that is pulling teeth.

Brown is very much needed in the senate and yes he’s not great on so many issues but at lest he’s not a DL bottom who lets a man abuse his family !
Seriously, one of the biggest failures with the Democratic establishment is the disproportionate amount of energy spent on winning the presidency as opposed to expanding local and congressional power.

This is kind of who Warren has always been. She'll slam any candidates who oppose "unicorns for all" as corporate bought traitors and then down the line "unicorns for all" actually turns out to be "2% extra EITC for horse riding trainers.

the next dem admin is going to have 50K lawyers willing to sign their life away to the DOJ in exchange for sending every person from this admin to prison and an entire army of civil servants ready to rebuild the government in a way that ensures this never happens again. that wasn’t the plan.
You cannot, out of one side of your mouth, argue that government can and should help people by passing laws that compel the wealthy and big business to pay their fair share for the general well being while also saying shit like this out of the other side. Pick a side. Laws matter or they don’t.
