Stopped into the engagement session for the 'Young Future Growth Node' this afternoon. Staff said they had a lot of people come through! Anecdotal evidence from convos & the stickies on boards suggested people are generally in favour but have reasonable critiques (ex. bigger greenspace allocation)

Just a reminder that it costs you NOTHING to check your side mirrors before you open your car door - it could save a life. Same with checking your side mirrors before turning right. Same with not flooring it thru yellow lights. Cyclists find motorcycles riders deserve to make it home alive.
The proper channel to communicate to the govt is through your MLA's constituency office that's closed to in person visits, phone forwarded to voicemail, email that returns a form letter, Province House that now bars most people entry, or via public statements that are ignored Ave legislated thru

so to get things straight: a car door hits & kills me me, person who did it gets a ticket I kick and break a car’s windshield, nobody is physically harmed, I go to jail cars can access a variety of municipally-owned housing for cheap or free. do cars have more rights than people?

If I attempted to record every pro-trans message I saw plastered, carried or shouted yesterday at Halifax Pride, I might actually run out of space on my phone. Hate is loud, but when love starts going, it’s a downright cacophony. What a beautiful day (to run 23km giving out free swag to attendees)

Well folks, here's hoping my relative's home & my family cottage in Mooseland don't burn to the ground overnight. I have some opinions about the handling of communications in this situation because that area has basically no cell service whatsoever. The evacuation should have been called much sooner
UPDATE (6 p.m.): DNR, HRFE and volunteer fire depts are continuing to respond to the fire on Mooseland Rd, Halifax Co. The fire has seen significant growth, is estimated to be 300 hectares and is out of control. 2 DNR helicopters and 4 fixed-wing water bombers are on site.

People have been protesting through the appropriate channels for months, to no effect. They keep losing services due to cuts by the government, directed by this premier. This is an expected escalation. (I’m not condoning anything! But I’m pointing out that people have not felt heard so far.)

In other words, libraries close or municipalities make up the shortfall resulting from years and years of the Province holding funding flat while costs grew. Outside of HRM, libraries are mostly funded by the Province so asking counties and small towns to fill the gap... that's hard for them to do!

Today everyone got delayed. But incomparably more important, someone's life will likely not be the same again because we won't do the right thing and support safety for pedestrians
