Brain droppings from an ST7 Psychiatrist in East London, working in an inner London liaison service. I mostly end up talking about the news.

A very good point as usual from @jamesbowes01.bsky.social The main objective of Mahmood's proposals was always to kick out care workers (as she has more or less said). That was always an economically, politically and morally bankrupt policy. Without it, the whole package falls apart.

Just exempting care workers would be ridiculous. Basically it would be a case of designing a policy to kick out care workers, panicking when you realise how stupid an idea that is, and then kicking out a load of engineers, scientists etc out of sheer stubbornness.

Cannot CHECK PHONE in combat. Cannot CHECK PHONE in combat. Cannot CHECK PHONE in combat. Cannot CHECK PHONE in combat. Cannot CHECK PHONE in combat. You were killed by DARK WIZARD!

It’s very funny that all indications are that an adaptation of Homer could be one of the biggest movies of the year with both critics and the box office and this is universally interpreted as a catastrophe for the conservative right because they’re poisoned themselves against culture

Gary Stevenson clearly cares deeply about inequality, and passionately wants a wealth tax. But he is uninterested in the detail of either the problem or his solution. He exaggerates his expertise, and his research is sloppy. Given the size of his audience, that's a shame.

I think you can only begin to understand Starmer when you understand how tough it was for someone of his background to build a career within the legal world of the 1980s and 1990s. He would have had to suppress so much of himself to get on. If you do that for 20 years it becomes publicly permanent.

feels quite telling of how Keir Starmer can't do politics that he gave an interview about his decision (sure) to quit, in which he said that decision was ultimately incredibly personal, and then couldn't expand on what that meant, he just repeated the same words. a man who simply cannot communicate

Reform has gone full pro-Putin following its local election successes. Farage says no Ukraine flags on public buildings (“all foreign flags” but Ukraine was key) and this below from Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr. “I don’t care.” A taste of what will happen if they win power.

And what kind of effect will another crisis, the war, have on Europe?
Do you mean the regional Slavic conflict between
Russia and Ukraine?
You don't think it's a war?
I wouldn't call it "the" war. It is a conflict happening in the world that I don't care very much about.
