The British planning culture creates horrors you couldn't imagine

Brain droppings from an ST7 Psychiatrist in East London, working in an inner London liaison service. I mostly end up talking about the news.
Experts aren't always right. That's why I put my faith in morons who are never right
Amazing how many of the people currently creating havoc around the world were radicalised during covid.
I realise this is Restore Britain etc etc, but it's nonetheless pretty shocking.
Important to object to and correct every single use of "remigration." The word is a euphemism designed to make respectable its users' project, which is ethnic cleansing.
What would I be prepared to do to fight fascism? The perennial question. But not posting on Twitter seems a pretty small ask. Amazed how many people I have admired are still doing it.
There is simply no ambiguity in what Elon Musk is arguing and endorsing here.
A very good point as usual from @jamesbowes01.bsky.social The main objective of Mahmood's proposals was always to kick out care workers (as she has more or less said). That was always an economically, politically and morally bankrupt policy. Without it, the whole package falls apart.
Just exempting care workers would be ridiculous. Basically it would be a case of designing a policy to kick out care workers, panicking when you realise how stupid an idea that is, and then kicking out a load of engineers, scientists etc out of sheer stubbornness.
Uh so unironically: is this the team that Tuchel always promised we would see?
I’m calling it: this game ends 7-1.

It’s very funny that all indications are that an adaptation of Homer could be one of the biggest movies of the year with both critics and the box office and this is universally interpreted as a catastrophe for the conservative right because they’re poisoned themselves against culture
Gary Stevenson clearly cares deeply about inequality, and passionately wants a wealth tax. But he is uninterested in the detail of either the problem or his solution. He exaggerates his expertise, and his research is sloppy. Given the size of his audience, that's a shame.
I mean this explains quite a lot about experiencing social media in the 2020's www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...
I think you can only begin to understand Starmer when you understand how tough it was for someone of his background to build a career within the legal world of the 1980s and 1990s. He would have had to suppress so much of himself to get on. If you do that for 20 years it becomes publicly permanent.
feels quite telling of how Keir Starmer can't do politics that he gave an interview about his decision (sure) to quit, in which he said that decision was ultimately incredibly personal, and then couldn't expand on what that meant, he just repeated the same words. a man who simply cannot communicate

The good thing about early exits from Netherlands and Germany, and France's clear dominance, is that the pressure's off England.

A disappointing first half, but I think we’ll get a goal or two. This is a much more open game than against Ghana.

So important to stop these people getting into power. (Just as important that Labour does not try to resemble them.)
NEW: EU nationals in the UK are increasingly alarmed at Reform UK’s plan to target their rights to accommodation and employment, saying this is a betrayal of promises made in the Brexit referendum 10 years ago. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
It doesn’t seem likely, but couldn’t Starmer step down gracefully and negotiate a job as Foreign Secretary?
Having met your long term partner before the app is the Millenials' equivalent of Boomers buying a house at 23.
I basically think the core problem with modern dating is that smartphones and apps, through no fault of their own, invert the dating process from “are you attracted to this person and do you like them?” to “do you like this person enough to meet and find out if you are attracted to them?”

The boys can not enter the same town twice, for it is not the same town and they are not the same boys.
Reform has gone full pro-Putin following its local election successes. Farage says no Ukraine flags on public buildings (“all foreign flags” but Ukraine was key) and this below from Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr. “I don’t care.” A taste of what will happen if they win power.
