rewatching Frontier in Space and it just occurred to me that the intensive & excellent model shots that feature in this era of #doctorwho are basically puppetry with spaceships. If I ever paid attention to Thunderbirds this would probably not be a new thought in my head.

Please make this a film starring Celia Imrie. I do love the idea that La Plante needs meetings with fresh criminals each time, there is no recycling.
Yes I acknowledge it makes sense in context but “I need my car to meet criminals” is now my favourite basis for an attempted exceptional hardship plea. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I have now listened to #PratChat83, the episode of @pratchatpodcast.com about Unseen Academicals. As usual, it was lovely and helped me enjoy the book more, not only because of the mention I got from @tansyrr.bsky.social .
#read2026 Unseen Academicals, by Terry Pratchett This story focuses mainly on four people who work behind the scenes at Unseen University, particularly Mister Nutt who is very strange in multiple directions. Also there is football.

The last Verity! Podcast has been recorded and this two hour episode with all the Verities will drop Wednesday morning.
Absolutely killer piece from @katydidinoz.bsky.social on the problems in the genre fiction publishing pipeline in Australia.
Tough love
Kate Cuthbert considers the ways that genre fiction is forsaken by the Australian publishing industry.

I can totally get on board with solving the biodiversity crisis by making more zombie films.
Orchids revived, the corpse ambulant and a poetic ruined abbey. These are the news stories I want to read.
Personally I think the most egregious choice in the Odyssey film was giving Clytemnestra a tiny tiny little dagger instead of an enormous axe. #justiceforclytemnestra But I did enjoy Penelope's loom, and Circe's masterful sculptural techniques.
Emily Wilson is doing important work by reminding men on the internet that watching Nolan's Odyssey is not the same experience as reading the text many, many times over, in the original Greek as well as multiple translations including your own. No wonder so many of them are mad.
@stephanieburgis.bsky.social and @tansyrr.bsky.social are two of my favourite fantasy-romance writers right now. Great mix of romance/adventure/humour, Burgis has an anti-fascist bent and Roberts adds snark and sometimes horror elements. Both have a mix of hetero and queer romances, too. <3
I have seen the Odyssey. I liked it way more than I thought I would. I don't know what the usual timeline/pipeline is for GIFs from recent-released cinema, but if someone could fast-track at least three "Zendaya as Athena is disappointed in you" head shakes, I would be very grateful.

One of my readers in #Australia accidentally got two print copies of CAULDRON BORNE, the 5th book of the #WalkerPapers. Does anybody need one? It's brand new and everything, and she's hoping she can find somebody local (ie, on the same continent) who'd like a copy. :)
Some of the other books included in that sale that I've already read & absolutely love are Charlotte English's Cold Days at Castle Draxx, @wrgingell.bsky.social's Twelve Days of Faery, @tansyrr.bsky.social 's Curse of Bronze, and @kehealey.bsky.social's Bespoke & Bespelled...and many more!
I love my Ravven covers! She gave my Sparks & Philtres series an unforgettable look.
I never do #PortfolioDay, but I probably should. I'm a book cover artist, in the past working primarily in a montage of photos, illustrations and 3D work overpainted digitally. I am currently working on more illustrative work. I also have a lot of premade covers available. www.ravven.com

Does he still count as a nepo baby or has he officially made it now?
Jack Quaid plays a gelatinous cube in the next God of War game.
I actually think I would genuinely enjoy a surreal Green Wing style sketch comedy show based around the premise of the search to find the next production team for Doctor Who. The only true challenge would be producing 6 whole episodes without a David Tennant cameo.

Seriously, did Russell T Davies re-read his original wishlist from when he first took on Doctor Who and realise the ONLY thing he hadn't done yet was invent a fake missing episode for fans to obsess over for the next 63 years? #doctorwho

I see there are a lot of feelings floating around about the young and dashing Edward Bluemel being cast as Hercule Poirot. Before everyone froths up about this, I do think I should let you all know that Agatha Christie hated the very idea of Hercule Poirot being played by LITERALLY ANYONE.

Never forget that the first Supergirl film in the 80s was held up as the reason that we couldn't have female-led superhero films even decades into the X-Men & MCU franchises... despite it being no worse than Superman III & IV. Because "girl."
#Supergirl is a direct follow-up to a very well liked movie, features Krypto (who everyone loves), has Jason Momoa as Lobo (which fans said they always wanted) & stars an actress everyone agrees was a standout in HotD. The only reason there’s a hate campaign against it is because “Girl.”
I've seen a lot of discussion from indie authors wanting to generate AI references then get real artists to "make it legit art" which suggests a HUGE lack of understanding of how to commission art/design as an author. So I thought I'd share my experience.
