Me: I got your little nosey, haha. I got your little nosey, Mr. floppy ears. Mr. cutie floppy ears. My dog, perceiving all collective memories of his kind, hunting an elk with his pack, howling at the moon with his mate: ᵗʷᵒ⁻ˡᵉᵍᵍᵉᵈ ᵖᶦᵍ, ᵐᵒʳᵉ ᶜʰᵉᵉˢᵉ ⁿᵒʷ. ᵇᶦᵍ ᵖᶦᵍ, ᵗᶦᵐᵉ ᶠᵒʳ ᶜʰᵉᵉˢᵉ. ᶜʰᵉᵉˢᵉ, ᵗᵃˡˡ ᵖᶦᵍ
I can see this type of AI finally being relegated to a sort of library attendant role. A globglogabgalab that's eaten all the books and can entertain for hours burping up all kinds of things. But not much wisdom there
to this and its parent post: this probably upsets everyone involved but I liked corporate memphis because it felt like a dissemination and acknowledgement of a dominant style in (indie) comics at the time (thinking e.g. eleanor davis, like 2014), was humanistic and reasonably pleasant to look at
Corporate Memphis led directly to the creation of one of my favorite games of all time, so even that succeeded in inspiring creativity.
i have fairly light experience with them but i feel that everyone should have to make one novice tracery bot before they’re allowed to say whether or not output is “ai”
Dawns on me that jank ass too-small text on websites may not in fact look jank on a 4K display that I don't have. Still too small

this graduation speech moment is notable, and her amazed shock at having failed to read the room feels instructive. when you're inside the bubble, you think everybody else is. but everybody isn't.
finally found something to make me laugh and it's this I've watched this like 30 times in a row
I think this "wicker" cable box is actually made of plastic but it does a good job
lb (not quoting because what follows is drivel from someone who never writes anything): I don't think it's just "but there's more...", I think it's that a good story has a jarring framing or POV that precipitates a desire for closure / psychological safety (Barthes' "rupture")
I know it's gauche to quote tolkien but genuinely the most interesting thing in his letters to me is this one from 1963 wherein he laid out in very plain terms what I think is THE fundamental thing that makes so much art have a life in your head beyond what you see on a page or play in a game
unfortunately I did read it and think it was so-so, because empowerment narratives are crack no matter how skeletal
when we mourn le guin, we mourn one of our greatest writers & thinkers. but we also mourn one of our all-time greatest haters
