Gods trade magic intervention for prayers and sacrifices, which give the gods more power. The most direct version is a god choosing a human as a Host to wield their power. The actual RELATIONSHIPS vary from a boss who approves expense reports once a month to beloved pet & owner. Common people...

#MythAugust 6 Some of the previous posts may have touched on this a bit already, but what kind of relationship do your deities have with the mortals of this world? Are they benefactors? Distant & aloof? Capricious & cruel? A mix? Bonus question: is the mortals' understanding of them accurate?? 👀

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 6:
What is your gods' relationship to the people of your world? Are they distant & uncaring? Involved & nurturing? Unpredictable chaos agents?

Welp, finally gave into peer pressure and made a webbed site to try and seem more like a real writer, so I also changed my display name bc i guess the nom de plume is official now. So thats a thing lol Not changing my handle tho. That's been me longer than my government name's been me.

Today is a "im so glad im not in charge" day. Somewhere along the line there was a messup in a brief to the tune of multiple thousands of dollars. Not my circuis, though I suspect I may be required to foster some of those monkeys soon.

The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.

So uhhhh because I am a fool who does things out of order, there are already two sequels for the book I'm pitching 🙈 My fav part is getting to see the characters' arcs through completion, watching them learn and grow. My least favorite part is the waiting to share. (Obviously lol)

Have you written a sequel before? If you haven't, what's stopped you? If you have, what were your most and least favorite parts about doing it? #WritingPrompt

"What would you do if AI suddenly disappeared?" Nothing in my life would change for the worse. On the contrary, I'd make more money because readers wouldn't have to dig through Kindle AI slop to find my books. And I could build a high-end gaming PC again without paying out the ass for RAM and SSDs.

Being a whole continent, there's a lot of rivers and the ocean! The Archneans view the ocean as inhospitable because they're under blockade by the sea goddess's chosen people, and ships that go a mile or more from shore sink. Most Archneans would say the Nima in the east is the most important 🧵

I'm sorry it's the same map every day, I only have one ;-;

#CartAugust Still talking about the features of the terrain. Today: water! Where is it, and can we use it to get around! Is it fresh and life-giving or poisonous? If you don't have water, talk to me about navigable ways

Rivers, lakes, or oceans. What's the most noteworthy stretch of water here? Is it a navigable way or a death wish?

The heirarchy is very strict, at least in official Archenean religion: 1) sol, the sun 2) the gods of the other planets 3) major earthly gods (1 of each element, worshiped empire-wide) 4) minor earthly gods, which are local or regional deities who swear allegiance to Sol's order.

#MythAugust 5 Today is about hierarchy! Who ranks highest or lowest among your gods/spirits/whatever? Is there a consensus about this ranking? As usual, interpret the question as loosely as you need to to fit your specific worldbuilding, and feel free to skip if it's not relevant to you! 😊❤️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 5:
Let's talk hierarchy! Which of your deities are more powerful/respected? Are there minor deities who serve the big ones?

The most terrifying enshittification I've discovered has been learning that Microsoft Word documents no longer auto-save if you are not saving them to one of their own proprietary cloud services. I'm slapping control-S like it's 1999.

concepts i am utterly uninterested in in any context even though i have to Engage with them for work: a) sex is/isn't changeable b) sex is/isn't different from gender i simply do not care. they are proxies for arguments on top of being proxies, like, ontologically. boring. pointless. no thank you.

Nor do we want to be on Truth Social. I would hate to find a welcome home there. I would hate to be somebody who would be palatable to such a place. We don't go on Truth, because nobody needs bullies. They *do* try to come on Bluesky, because bullies need the rest of us.

The burden is always on us lefties to welcome them, debate them, compromise with them, find middle ground, and generally make them comfortable. It’s totally one directional. No one is calling for Truth Social to make any room for us.

The Spine bisecting the continent is both the highest point and the biggest terrestrial obstacle. It's heavily inspired by the Sierra Nevada/Cascades, so it's a young, volcanic mountain range. (Mt. Bahor, marked near the center, was the highest point until it exploded 60 years ago). Due to the...

You shall not pass! Hey #CartAugust crew, time to dive in and really start looking at your maps. Today, we're talking elevation: highs, lows, and if you have neither, barriers to movement. Tell me about the geology, the history, famous explorers who lost their lives there... What do I need to know?

Talk to me about elevation changes in your world. Mountains, canyons, caves. Which is most interesting and why?

Look, it's the driving force of my series after about 1/3 of the way through book 1! Since the dawn of humanity, gods have struggled for power. In the Archnean empire, the sun god, Sol, and his allies (who is an ally has shifted and continies to shift) have enough of a hold on the population to...

#MythAugust 4 Today, tell me about the different factions among your gods/spirits. Think like the Æsir & Vanir in Norse mythology, or angels & demons in Christianity. What's their relationship? Are they sworn enemies? Sometimes allies? Interpret the question however makes sense for your story!
