Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

This country is so fucked up. I've been trying to schedule a minor throat surgery for months. I've known the date of the surgery for a month. They called less than a half hour ago and told me that I have 2 weeks and 5 days to come up with at least half of $1,430.

there is no such thing as "age verification." All "age verification" is actually "identity verification." You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper. But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware. Period.
