This is extremely stupid. Finding a middle ground with these folks is a Devil's Bargain like trying to beat the GOP on being immigration hawks, except maybe worse because it's more subtle. It's kind of disqualifying for any further movement. I expected better from MR too.

There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.

You can collapse the dichotomy between civilization and nature if you recognize civilization building as the natural path of human tendencies. Civilization is not the tabula rasa possibilityspace of pure biology, but biology isn't a tabula rasa either, it's a set of contingent relationships.

An excellent example of this is @sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com 's repeated thesis, which imo really can best be summed up as "liberalism segues neatly into transhumanism, it is the defiance of the old system of zero-sum exchange in favor of a prosperous new order both synthetic and superior."

or to quote Vetinari: "Freedom may be mankind’s natural state, but so is sitting in a tree eating your dinner while it is still wriggling.” We are ideologically primed to look for that which is true in that which is natural, because the Enlightenment needed a replacement for divine law.

that's the opposite of what I'm saying. Liberalism is unnatural to the reptile brain, which is exactly why it's valuable and worth defending bsky.app/profile/mark...

I can't wait until AI does all the work and we can focus on important problems like establishing the fact that the outgroup is bad and that the ingroup is good.

And look, I'm just going to say it: antisemitism is doing to the US political left (not just leftists/DSA) right now, before our very eyes, what transphobia did to the British political left, and anyone who doesn't see it is choosing not to.

We really invented language models that are more verbally fluent than most famous scifi ai on spaceships (basically zero to hard to tell in five years) & people's response is to say how boring that is

Maybe you should take your newfound moral clarity that we are glad you have now, and look at your own past behaviors.

It has seen multiple people rightfully denounce this behavior. Where were you when she was nearly freezing to death in the vermont wilderness.
