genuinely curious how this happened, people don’t just get offered $2.5 million deals if the writing then turns out to be SO suspect that it’s the AGENT who withdraws it! a minor celebrity author, maybe? 👀 Fascinated by the "withdrawn by its agents" detail. So the AI use was so blatant that the agents due a huge payday preemptively withdrew the contract?

Satyr created by Mary Lorraine, c.1967, in the art therapy studio at Netherne Hospital, where she was compelled to live. One of several surviving works her paintings often depict scenes of ballet, art making & society occasions & it seems, pre-hospitalisation, she may have been a professional dancer

A pale painting of a white, grey haired satyr dressed in a grey v neck sweater, white shirt and black tie with furred legs and pointy hooves, the left hand raised to shoulder height. The figure is rather stranded in the middle of an expanse of yellowing paper, it is painted in an untaught style and there is something quite camp about the satyr’s stance but there is also a slightly unsettling quality to it. His face is not very detailed but the expression on it is certainly not friendly

100 years ago my grandma hadn’t been born yet (born 1934!) but great grandma would’ve either still been in service (aka a maid) orrrrr she’d have been a housewife who did stitchwork/clothes alterations and occasionally sawed railway sleepers when my great grandad was too sick (bad lungs) to work

the problem with writing a book that takes place during a heatwave while heatwaves are actually happening irl is that although from a descriptive point of view this is very helpful, i do not function in heat and my brain is overheated mush so the words aren’t wording

couldn’t figure out why Benni was barking loads today, but there’s been a very low-flying helicopter circling overhead for an hour & when i let him outside he stood in the garden staring at it & howling like a wolf! i’m now trying to explain to him he can’t fight flying machines

we have dimmer lights in the living room useable on a phone & whenever we watch a film me or james will yell MAKE IT SEXY (meaning dim the lights) & i sometimes wonder if the neighbours can hear us through the open window & think that we have a very surreal starting point for sex

mine are: that, just, somehow, strange there’s probably a few more lurking that i haven’t caught yet but i often find myself removing these and going: ‘no, describe *how* don’t use “somehow” as a cop out!’ and also: ‘there are other words for strange, Laura, use them!!!’
