Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month is coming to an end (10/15) but it's never too late to keep the support going. I hope people will continue to support Latine/a/o/x writers, artists, restaurants, businesses, films, etc. Especially during these trying times. Much love.
Hi #HorrorWritersChat I'm late, but determined to participate this week! I'm Samantha, multi-genre writer. My horror is generally short and explores many different subgenres. I have an addiction to writing for anthologies because I'm a sucker for a great theme. For the Q: Does Pan's Labyrinth count?
And there you are again. With a blink, flames scythe across the copse, now a deep trench. Explosions rattle your skull, blurring your vision. Your hand is heavy. With his head. Again. Tell us who you are, what do you write, and what is your favourite depiction of war in horror? #HorrorWritersChat
Check out this entire thread to see what the denizens of #HorrorWritersChat have on offer this week. Celebrate spooky season with us!
You blink again, hands twisted in the air. War echoes faintly across the frozen copse. There he is; under this slanted shroud. A mist between leaden raindrops. Waiting. Have you answered the questions? Got something to share? Promote below & share each others' posts! #HorrorWritersChat
In a world where every moment is monitored, what happens when one little girl starts answering questions before they're asked? Read "The After Question" by Mathew Alfes the latest issue of Perseid Prophecies. 🔗⏬ #scifi #horror #weirdfiction #shortstory
I'd want to handle the psychological impact subtly, like T. Kingfisher in the Sworn Soldier series (WHAT MOVES THE DEAD, etc.) Alex is a retired soldier whose training may prepare them better for dealing with other horrors, but the memories and impacts of the war are constant. #HorrorWritersChat
His shivering, tear-dimmed eyes stare at you. At that red cross plastered over your chest. You can't breathe. He's your first. Wars scar soldiers' souls forever. How would you explore that in a psychological horror about war? The loss of self, the flashbacks, or something else? #HorrorWritersChat
Howdy. Nate here, writer of working class cosmic and a variety of other horrors. My favorite depiction of war in horror is the film Under the Shadow (2016). #HorrorWritersChat

I'd love to participate in #HorrorWritersChat this week, but Bluesky isn't letting me quote-post at the moment. Enjoying what I'm seeing so far, though!
Having been lucky enough to grow up with my grandpa(he passed in 2018), he told many stories of his time in WW2. He fought in 5 Naval battles! While some stories were lighthearted, obv many were not and he had a hard time. Memories are scars on the brain. I'd go flashbacks.💔 #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat I'm Trish Wilson and i write quiet horror and horror comedy. I have written war horror. Deathwatch is an excellent horror movie. It's about soldiers trapped in a trench during WWI and supernatural crap happens around them. They're surrounded by fog and alone. Terrifying!
#HorrorWritersChat I’m James Ryan, and that’s a tough one to answer, because on some level all depictions of war are horror. There was a title that DC published called WEIRD WAR that probably fits in both camps comfortably, so maybe going with that…

Hello, I'm Vivian and I write horror and dark fiction. War and horror. Well, war is horror really, so I'm gonna go with Saving Private Ryan. But if strictly horror for horror sake, then Under the Shadow and Day of the Dead( I love you, Bub.) #HorrorWritersChat

#HorrorWritersChat This is a very late, and very sick, Dustin Pinney saying hello! I write horror about pop culture and identity. My favorite music to listen to while writing is John Carpenter. My favorite music in life depends on the mood of the day.

#HorrorWritersChat Question Two: “Big black shape with eyes of fire Telling people their desire…” Does music play a part in your horror writing, and if so, how do you use it in the story?
