I met DaVaun for the first time last year, & though it was brief, he impressed upon me the urgency of supporting our fellow marginalized writers. This is so hard to hear 😞 FIYAH has been inspirational to me & has done so much for Black SFF writers. Whatever comes next, I will support loud & proud 💜

Difficult post, but past time to rip the band aid off. FIYAH is going on hiatus indefinitely, with issue #40 currently set to be our last for the time being. The mag cannot continue running at a loss, and needs time to reassess operations from top to bottom if a viable path forward is to be created.

Part Two of our Author Bracket! ✨ In the spirit of celebrating queer/BIPOC authors, we’ve created a bracket of vanguard & contemporary writers! This round, you can vote on which of these contemporary authors you’d pick as your next read. Go to our Instagram to vote or comment your choices below! 💜

There's has been a lot of discourse lately about reviews, especially for older and indie titles. NEW YEAR, NEW YOU, released in 2024, got lovely coverage from indie & mainstream reviewers alike. I wanted to highlight them again w/ a big THANK YOU 🧵 (and we're still happy to give out review copies!)

The title "NEW YEAR, NEW YOU: A Speculative Anthology of Reinvention" across the top, with the cover in the middle of the title.

Below are several endorsement quotes, as well as an image of an astronaut and octopus tentacles entering from either side against a backdrop of stars.

“Delightful, thought-provoking, and multi-faceted...”
–Naseem Jamnia
