I wish I could get a paid position to write and talk about AEW. The landscape is so dire when it comes to notable publications. And unlike most people getting paid to do it, I actually love AEW and don't feel the need to generate clickbait about it. #AEW 🤼

There are lots of barely-promoted and/or undistributed domestic and foreign films out there that are just as worthy of attention as the ones that win awards at big festivals, get a distro deal & are widely covered. What sites or critics specialize in such movies? I want to expand my field of vision.

The takeaway here is, you have to meet every work of art on its own terms, and sometimes it takes a while to figure out what those terms are. I've been a critic for almost 40 years and I still have to keep re-learning this lesson.

It's called ethical romantasy, T. It's when the fantasical romance is a sedative.

All right, maybe I shoulda been more patient. Episode 3 was good, and surprised me with its frank portrayal of menstruation. Had some good scene transitions, too.

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON is still… fine? Nothing about it is surprising anymore, which is weird to say about a show about death, incest, and kickass dragons. Unfortunately it has undergone visual mushification, with most scenes looking like dim gray haze. I may be talking myself into falling off in S3.
