This is truly execrable reporting from the BBC on the racist disorder in Thetford. “…amid fears they were being used to house asylum seekers.” What were those “fears” and why are you giving them this implicitly legitimacy?

Also… I have now officially re-recorded the audiobook myself. Thank you to the many many many many of you who complained. I love you grousers The new audiobook should be out in a few months I tried my best with the Polish names but as Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz can attest, your language is hard

Based on the overwhelming consensus that I’ve heard in both public feedback and private conversations from government officials, service providers, encampment residents, and public health experts, I do not believe we are prepared to responsibly close the encampments beginning tomorrow.

Frankel to Rubio: "It is crazy that you want to let people in from South Africa because they can assimilate, while you're throwing out hundreds of thousands of people who have already assimilated and that are important parts of our economy and family life."

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

A pride flag with every color band represented by a NASA image. White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.

This is Bodie. His presence indicates the beginning of Pride Month. May his whimsy and steadfastness bring joy and confidence to all. 14/10 the parade starts right behind him 🌈🐾 (IG: hellobodie)

a golden retriever puppy on a bright pink rope leash prances through some tall grass. he’s wearing a brightly patterned bandana around his neck and is carrying a miniature six-stripe pride flag in his mouth. his front right paw is raised mid-stride, like he’s ready to hop into a pride parade at any second.

Time for the regular public service announcement /reminder that the Strib was bought by local billionaire and former GOP State Senator Glen Taylor in 2014 for the stated purpose of making the state paper of record more conservative and Taylor has done this. END

If I had one piece of advice for Minnesotan progressive / DFL candidates seeking election in November it would be not to forget to make it VERY plain what you are bringing to the table for Black people in particular & really court their vote. Not the only one, but... That's the one I'm going with.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the shifting baseline concept as applied to everyday life. People in their 20’s now have no memory of highly functional systems, products (from blenders to sweaters) that were so well made you could hand them down across generations, or even helpful customer service.

Note to media: police arresting peaceful protesters singing “give peace a chance” is not protesters “clashing” with police. It’s the state violating the First Amendment rights of people upset that human beings who did nothing illegal are being held without due process and being fed maggots.
