If you haven't already, you should be following @tunditur-unda.itch.io and playing their games! The Dev Logs on their sketch games are highly illuminating if you want to think about RPG design from different angles. Generational talent over here whose work you won't want to miss :D
Hey! Are you an indie dev who doesn't use gen AI and have a game you're currently promoting? I'm looking to make a starter pack and you could be in it! Reply below with a link to your game 👇 go.bsky.app/78u8M6Y
This completely unhinged WB promo for Deep Space Nine – an ill conceived attempt to make the most cerebral of Star Trek shows look “cool” – has got a screaming rock dude wailing over a shot of Captain Sisko watching his wife blow up:
this week's rpg sketch "rock of contrition" - features everyone's favorite rpg trope "recovery spring" - you can play it in your browser (even on your phone) - windows download also available - made in 10-12 hours - it is possible to beat tunditur-unda.itch.io/rpg30
The entire last hour of Big Walk, I was constantly saying to myself "what a fucking amazing game". Probably gonna be the most memorable gaming experience of this year and maybe next. Shoutouts to @dynamicdonut.bsky.social and @urxflow.bsky.social for being Big Walk Bros.

It's time for another @mortisghost.bsky.social concept art for Radio Town! Working with god-tier artists like this is terrifying because you'll ask for like, a general concept to get started and they'll come back a week later with an. actual comic book that you can just use. That's nuts!!!
Knytt has been faitfully recreated by @bitkidgames.com to run on current operating systems and was just released on Steam and GOG, completely free Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2656050/...

I kind of want to get back into playing weird BYOND games again. Not just SS13 which has sorta escaped the confines of the engine, but the RPGs and other niche stuff.
The Windows 98 Command Menu mod I installed for KH2FM is pretty soulful.
optimization is expensive and not everyone working on their game is an experienced programmer; spending the time and effort working on your own engine so your game can run on a toaster is an expensive ask. rpgmaker games run on toasters but your choice of version can lead to large default ram reqs.
Here's something that's been bothering me If you're an indie game dev and your game is stylistically influenced by Diablo 2 and Earthbound or whatever......why does it need: i5+ 8gb ram+ RTX 3050+ Like you hate to hand it to Roblox or Minecraft...but they literally run on everything (popular)

Zexion 100% speedrun on GDQ hotfix today around 6:45 CST! Full schedule here: gdq.gg/schedule/hotfix. I've been pleased to see lots of people enjoy both speedrunning the game and playing the built-in randomizer! #indiedev #gamedev #metroidvania #Steam #Zexion
Everyone hates it when their opponent just leaves the game before it's over, so I've been trying to find ways to soften the blow a little bit. #fightinggame #gamemaker #indiedev
I'm reminded I need to get my PC Engine Duo recapped; I bought mine years ago at a auction site and it's still in the box since getting it anywhere in Texas was a hassle.
I guess I'll toss this out there and see if anyone has any leads: Is there anywhere in Seattle hiring mid-level developers? Or what are even the best resources to uncover those jobs nowadays; I've tried all the various job boards and so far the results aren't great.
I'll say it again: Reviews are the best way you can help a game you love (besides telling everyone you know about it!). If you like/love a game, pop a review on their Steam page. It makes the devs day, provides feedback, enhances the search algorithm and tells new players what to look out for.
With regards to that last repost, reviews can mean a lot to smaller developers, so I'm gonna put out a little call to action. Everyone following me? DO THIS NOW! I'm asking for replies so more folks pick this up, and continue it. Please take this graphic and ask your followers to do the same!
I know the industry is in a dire state right now for jobs but If any indie studios see this and need an additional programmer, PLEASE let me know ASAP! my partner @barndone.bsky.social is a great generalist programmer and needs a home! Vancouver on 1 salary isn't going to cut it for long 😓
I'm not a big enough streamer to get keys for a lot of the big indie games I'd like to show off, but there's a lot of little tiny indie games that I'd LOVE to show off if I could get a key (I cant afford to buy em all) But a lot of the devs have 0 ways to contact em :(
working on a new project for @aftermath.site: a semi-comprehensive, regularly-updated list of every game studio that refuses to use AI. if that sounds like your studio, message me with the reason(s) why as well as basic details about what you make. DMs open and email is nathan@aftermath.site
