Destiny didn’t fall short of expectations, LEADERSHIP did. Some of the most out of touch people who only saw the $ & held a beloved franchise to the coals because it didn’t fit their margins. Devs suffocated under the immeasurable weight of their greed. Everyone who has worked there deserves better.

I'm tired of every fucking game and show I like is crushed in the grist mill of capitalism. Every week it's something new. Layoffs in the hundreds or thousands, payouts for the c suite. It's soul-sucking.
Any game company not doing remote work anymore is fundamentally unserious
Imagine being the game that the ENTIRE industry was chasing, and your one job was to just let the creatives keep cooking, and you chose to not do that.
Sure let’s speed run the stages of grief and go straight to rage. Why not?

my heart goes out to all the talented creatives at Bungie who struggled under catastrophic mismanagement for years trying to make a good game who will likely be thrown into the worst games job market in history

Well it’s happened, Destiny 2 is coming to a close. I’ve been heavily invested in this game since 2019 and first encountered the smooth talking dirty hallway man known as the Drifter and the OC headcanons spiralled from there. I’m sad to see it go but I truly hope we can return to it in the future.

I have, until this day, believed that Martha’s Vineyard was named such because Martha Stewart owned it… I don’t know how I came to this conclusion in my child brain the first time I heard of it, or why I never bothered Googling it until now 💀
Love how the DLSS system was created for low spec machines but now it needs not one but TWO 5090s to run right. The things that -if you can even FIND them for sale- cost like 6400 CAD a piece. RIP Nvidia it’s time to go quietly into that good night I think.

Hoppers was better than I thought it was going to be, but despite that I still have no idea what it was trying to say about environmentalism, the message was really all over the place…
So if using AI actually does erode human cognition the way studies suggest, then it's a feature instead of a bug? The world is gross enough without "take away people's ability to think so we can sell it back to them" being on the list.

Currently reading the Will of the Many and it rubs me the wrong way that the main male character is the “I’m good at everything/not like other girls” type, yet this was lauded as THE fantasy book of 2023, while when women write female characters the same way, it’s “bad” and “a Mary Sue” 😬
