Part of the issue is that people are gaming out every iteration of the confrontation, whereas I think Hancox-Li's point was that there very little upside to having this confrontation in the first place, and a lot of downsides---as we have seen.
There's some interesting analysis of noise demonstrations and black bloc tactics in there that honestly dovetails pretty well with the original post, but the central problem is the same as all the discourse: it is trying to both defend a strategy of armed confrontation while refusing to admit it.

I’m going to be a little mean here: “organizing experts” can’t appeal to their authority to dispute the idea that it is strategically unwise to get in an armed confrontation with the US government. If you’re going to defend violence as a means, you have to articulate a strategy.

I feel a constant internal pressure to express myself in ways that feel unserious or insincere. Impulse control is always difficult for me generally...but the peptides were helping more and more in the recent days. Maybe I should just bump my dose already.
