a genuinely sui generis musician whose influence will probably only be understood when he’s gone. but, for my money, there’s no cocteau twins, no shoegaze, no uk post rock without him
Anyway, happy birthday to the genius, Vini Reilly. 🎸✨

If you need to know what the people who make up our media are really like, just have a look at all the endless eulogies for wife-beating, racist, CSA fan Rod Liddle today. He was down-punching scum of the worst kind, and so are they.
Haters focusing on Liddle's violence toward his pregnant partner, his galloping racism, or his repeated defences of paedophilia, should remember to mention he was also one of the worst writers to ever do it. A calorie-free hack of the first water. Just absolute dogshit, back to front.
Proud to say next release on label is by John Beltran and featuring a Fireground remix. Preorder now! trone1.bandcamp.com/album/roots-...

No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.
AI labs buy, scan, shred millions of rare books
If you have retreated to physical books because the internet is too full of AI slop, bad news — now they’re shredding the books to feed their AI slop machines.

“I used ChatGPT for—“ Cool way of saying you can’t do basic tasks. “But it’s really helpful for—“ Rotting your brain, enriching billionaires, stealing from folks, & ruining the environment. “I don’t think ChatGPT is that bad! It helps with—“ Nothing. It’s a lying machine build on stolen things!
We've been in the ripping-the-copper-wiring-out-of-the-walls era of society for awhile now. There's no attempts to make anything better. There's no attempts to make anything people want. It's just syphoning gas out of cars and burying people in gambling debt from rigged betting markets.
Why is everything so transparently evil now?
grateful for all he has given us, glad there is one more to come, but this still stinks

My beef with Morrissey runs all the way back to 1986 when he said this about Black artists. Nineteen Eighty Six, while the Smiths were still active. It’s not a “later phenomenon” don’t try and lie to me www.standard.co.uk/culture/musi...

I Dreamed I Dream scorching The Theatre Royal , Waterford last night. Cool, hot, noisy, wild, angry, fun rock'n'roll.
Now here's a band we can recommend. JEAN PACK giving off hook-laden,modern retro vibes at The Theatre Royal Waterford last night. A bamd to keep an eye on
I Dreamed I Dream, one of Irelands best bands at the moment, brought their bass heavy krautpunk to Waterford's Theatre Royal tonight and gave the rafters a proper rattle!
Family home (mum still lives there) looks out straight at Slievenamon. The dining room window is like a frame around the mountain (from Carrick on Suir side). We always used say you could see the weather 20 minutes ahead from looking at it. Now you can see the future by looking at it too.
I hadn't realised the Slievenamon fires were this bad. Terrifying.

Historian friend was reading a civil war era letter in an archive, the letter said “In this envelope I include my smallpox scabs” and sure enough there they were. Had to call CDC for a hazmat team.
