smug about the correctness of my prediction that my child would love the pro shot of Hadestown
Why am I sharing this? Why am I doing this to other people? It seems cruel but I just did that.
my kid is currently playing with a friend halfway across the world and overhearing their antics is a delight in itself

modern adhesives are SO amazing. is there anything more gratifying than having just the right one for the task at hand? i always think that being a materials engineer just seems like it must be incredibly cool. substances! engineered! to be these ways and not those, to do these things and not that!
this is specifically about wood glue in its details but modern adhesives more broadly are absolutely WILD, like often the best choice for permanently affixing heavy masonry and so on

Modern adhesives are underrated as great inventions of the 20th century. What woodworkers had to deal with before modern wood glue showed up sounds absolutely miserable. Smelly glue made from horses that had to be applied boiling hot, and didn’t even hold that well.
(Observing the effects of pruning) imagine if mammal bodies worked like this. Cut your arm off right after a node grow five new arms

Bet you didn't know that the Little Morton Salt Girl is an immortal being who existed before there was life on Earth.
your apartment, the sport of basketball, and the Republic of Korea are all social constructs. mere recognition of this fact does not actually make the question of whether you are standing in your own apartment, playing basketball, or a Korean national up in the air until settled by op ed editors
Are brain rhythms a steady hum or a brief buzz? Both. Alpha and beta activity are relatively sustained, helping maintain ongoing brain state, supporting its role in top-down control. Universal rhythmic architecture uncovers two modes of neural dynamics www.nature.com/articles/s41... #neuroscience
Universal rhythmic architecture uncovers two modes of neural dynamics - Nature Communications
Brain oscillations are traditionally regarded as sustained rhythms. Here, the authors show that there are both high and low-rhythmicity bands, characterised by brief bursts, which can signal responses...

So, basically, the meeting was a shitshow and a farce, Acton fully intends to throw trans people under the bus, the campaign as a whole has nothing but contempt for progressives, and they're going to lose this race to Vivek FUCKING Ramaswamy, who would lose to a wet paper bag. (7/8)
the thing about Mr. Douthat is that he has a face for radio, a voice for murals, and a point of view for landfills

A thing I've been saying is that I think polls have been asking if people think the economy is bad and people have been answering that they think the economy is evil
I’ve been standing stock still in this wood for about 10 minutes while I mess about with a photo on my phone. I look up, notice the shape, and slowly crouch down to film This has made me so happy I feel I could cry. It’s as close to magic as I hope to get.

every time i think about pretty much any aspect of the intersection of money and political campaigning, i lose my mind. oh well, at least everything about it is structured to ensure it ratchets up worseningly in every direction! hooray
95% of my communications from the Democratic Party look like this. I have never in my life signed up to be texted by a campaign or the party, and I spent fruitless months attempting to unsubscribe from these. These are functionally identical to scam texts.
some might naively think, "if I find myself agreeing with ultra-right-wing shitstains about what we should do and value, maybe i should reconsider" but smarties know: come on! all these vulnerable people aren't just going to throw *themselves* under the bus! many hands make light work. apparently.

[Odysseus confronts Penelope's suitors] WHATS UP DICKWIPES
The only good thing to come out of the dipshit Odyssey discourse is that at one point I commented “if we’re worried about accuracy, then Jason Mantzoukas should be playing Odysseus,” and now I can’t get it out of my head 😄
