By February this year, @london.gov.uk's TfL had spent £66.5m replacing the #GallowsCorner flyover and re-aligning the traffic lanes below. This should have been a once in a generation opportunity to future-proof the junction for walking, wheeling and cycling. Instead, it's a failure.

Disappointed that the likes of @dpcarrington.bsky.social don't mention reducing road motor traffic or not expanding aviation. I know you can't mention everything but these two areas are massive emitters (and will be with cars even when they are all EVs).

There is loads TfL could on its network to reduce community severance and to make its roads easier to cross, but it doesn't. Several of the TfL signal-controlled junctions don't even have signalised crossings on all of the arms.
Car dependency was not a choice. It was and is the deprivation of choice.
In fact - the only new crossing of the Thames at cycleway standard since 2016 is Hammersmith Bridge. What a shocking state of affairs that a world city can’t even build a single new cycling link over its river in a decade.
Zero km in #Havering, and the A12 and A127 which the Mayor controls are poorly served and hard to cross for people walking, wheeling and cycling. Safe streets in #London is a postcode lottery.

It took vision, hard work, & the conviction to invest in green infrastructure - often in the face of vocal opposition. In 2016, we had 90km of Cycleways. Now we're at 450km. That's progress. And we're not stopping there.

Have any high street revitalisation experts talked about them often being traffic sewers that people drive through to spend elsewhere? I recently looked at Green Lanes in Haringey which is a traffic sewer being managed for long distance traffic (16.5k vehicles per day). 1/2
How many times will the system ignore the warning signs. "Renshaw had previous driving convictions dating back to 1997, including for dangerous driving and driving while disqualified." Drivers who drive badly, will continue to do so. And he'll be back behind the wheel in two months 🤬
