Even people who "have people" are still sometimes stuck doing things the hard way. If we really want families to thrive we have to support families when they're going through it.

Not everyone has people. Not everyone has family and friends they can turn to for help. Some people with kids start every day wondering how they’ll make it through. Each day sometimes more exhausting than the last. We shouldn’t judge them. We should judge a society that creates them.

This makes me think of the desperate, exhausted young woman I once saw sitting on the floor of an airport, holding a squirming, crying baby while she fought hard not to cry, herself. Her loneliness and isolation were palpable. All I could do was tell her she’s doing her best and this too shall pass.
