Now, look, I don't know if the poor fellow plagarized or not. But I know when NYT publishes an op ed by Jesse Singal on plagarism accusations against a Black British academic no one in the US has heard of it's not really a story about plagarism any more than the stories about Claudine Gay were.

If you never looked into the Claudine Gay scandal (Dec '23 - Jan '24) you can be forgiven for thinking she plagarized. Her colleagues at the time protested that the examples of "plagarism" Rufo found were things like commonly used definitional phrases, not actual plagarism. It didn't matter.

On the left, the villain—a professor who was hounded to death after Rightists made him a target for their culture-war grievances. On the right, the hero—a man who committed domestic violence & openly questioned the validity of criminalising pædophilia. I leave you to judge the morality at play.

Tbh, this is probably the most important thing in a thread of important things. The degree to which our society (right and left) acts as though trans people aren’t even people, let alone people facing a heretofore unimaginable campaign of legislative and social genocide, cannot be understated.

if personhood is achieved in and through society then the conditions of our society shape the conditions of personhood. we live in a transphobic society that is trying to legislate trans people into oblivion AND our progressivism often deals in rhetoric that says trans personhood is less than.

the reason we ask for material help is because we're routinely denied it *constantly.* we aren't trying to hoard resources here, we're just trying to make ends meet and be seen as actual people who matter. yet we're also expected to smile all the time, never speak up, and 'know our place.'

Gotta watch what you're saying about this. In CA, they're using grinders to cut down the aluminum poles, which can be recycled for cash. I'm sure nobody wants to hurt a corporation or their profits, in spite of their participation in the surveillance state.

Here's some free advice from a communications expert: framing the question as "teams that do not match their sex at birth" instead of "teams that match their experienced gender" or better yet, "teams that match their neuroanatomical sex," was a choice you made. Not an endorsement my ass.

It's an all hands on deck moment. Lawyers need to do their job to protect elections. Courts must do their job to ensure the law is followed. And, voters must make sure they have a plan to vote and turn out.

In what world is "oh no I got fooled bc I cared too much" worse than "everyone in need is a scam artist and I'm the smartest, bestest boy for ignoring them all"
