to me the problem with computationalism is you can always replace known computations by lookup tables. so either you have to claim that “executing” CPU operations is different from reading each step from the cache (nonsense), or you have to claim that all possible experiences exist (dust theory)

a lot of "AI hype" discourse makes more sense when you realize that a lot of initial LLM/GenAI hype envisioned replacing artists and PhDs, and its actual impacts have been much greater on coders and other tech workers creatives/experts see "AI" as underperforming hype, techies see it overperforming

I'll be doing one of these sessions, we'll take the love of complex patterns and structures which often draws us to work in tech, but instead we'll leave our screens and go for a walk in the woods, foraging new patterns, grounding the abstractions in the natural world.
