Recovering social worker. Midwestern nobody. Cats, books, music, art, wildlife, nature, coffee/tea. Unassuming unless provoked.

Apparently, some Houston voters are putting their I Voted stickers on the Lorenzo Salgado Araujo memorial. Stephen Miller is ALREADY trying to scapegoat others for losing whatever races they lose in Texas and elsewhere. This is a vivid testament that for some voters, his murder squad is the reason.

Houston: Hundreds of Texans leaving their "I voted" stickers at the site where Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot by ICE

This guy has the scared bravado of an absolute booger eater who’s gotten in with the school bully. He’s been told to brazen it out, and is only half convinced that it’ll work, as the current strategy depends on selling child rape as a character flaw for the child.

NEW: Vivek Ramaswamy says Amy Acton being a victim of childhood sexual abuse makes her “flawed” while defending his ad featuring her estranged mother. “In politics sometimes it's a tough sport.”

#ResistanceRoots Today in history, 1963: More than 225,000 Black students boycott the Chicago Public Schools system to protest systemic segregation and severe overcrowding. Thousands of students, parents and community organizers marched downtown to demand integration and equal resources. /1

Parents and children march in downtown Chicago carrying signs that read “Equal Our Opportunities” and “Willis Must Go,” Oct. 22, 1963. Freedom Day shattered the myth that segregation only existed under the Crow laws of the South. It exposed how deliberate municipal engineering enforced de facto segregation in major Northern cities. The organizational infrastructure built for Freedom Day also shaped the future of the Civil Rights Movement. It convinced MLK and the SCLC to move their campaign northward, using the same strategy to fight for open housing. The philosophy of using a mass boycott as economic leverage evolved into Operation Breadbasket and Operation PUSH. Freedom Day also politicized a generation of Black youth and taught them how to become community organizers and activists. It proved that regular citizens and school children possessed the logistical power to paralyze a major city in the name of equality. Photo by Art Shay. Photo credit: Kartemquin Films.

The State Board of Elections’ last-minute changes to voting by mail are leading to thousands more absentee ballots being rejected this election - at a rejection rate twice as high as in 2022. It’s infuriating. North Carolinians, please make a plan to vote this year, in person if possible.

Yes. This is disgusting. The Trump admin manufacturing the evidence to support their conspiracy theories of widespread non-citizen voting. They arrest a tiny number of people (arrests crafted to draw attention), at least some of whom having no idea of the crime they’ve been accused of.
