There’s a weather warning for high temperatures this week, the sun is shining bright and people are out enjoying the nice weather after weeks of rain and clouds. But in this weather we need to be protecting our skin with sun cream.

SCRAP THE VAT ON SUN CREAM
Sun cream saves lives by preventing Skin Cancer. It is essential during this weather warning. Adding 23% VAT to the price puts it out of reach for many.

We can’t allow horrific and tragic incidents to continue to be used as an excuse by the far right and bad actors to cause violence and destruction in our cities, we’ve seen it in Dublin, we’ve seen it in Liverpool, and we’ve seen it across the past three years in Belfast.

The cycle of violence has to end with photos of the riots in Dublin 2023, Liverpool 2024 and Belfast in 2026

Funny how much can change in just one month? The Socdems have completely changed their tune on the Critical Infrastructure Bill and the damaging impact it will have on our climate. Here are some of them speaking out against this bill last month, before voting it through yesterday.

Where do the Social Democrats stand on climate and the critical infrastructure bill?

I am extremely concerned by what the Minister and this Government are doing in the area of climate action and now in the area of climate law. They are dismantling years of work and future generations will bear the cost. Section 7 of the Critical Infrastructure Bill provides for a disapplication of section 15 of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 in specific cases.

Jennifer Whitmore TD April 14th 2026
Voted in favour of critical infrastructure bill May 13th 2026In this new Bill there is no step change away from this outsourcing and the overreliance on the private model of delivery of infrastructure. Why are we in the situation we are with the children's hospital? Why are we in the situation we are with the lack of infrastructure? It is in large part because the State has handed over the delivery of infrastructure to the private sector.

Why am I running for the Dáil? It’s because I want to deliver a better Dublin. I want to deliver a Dublin where people can afford to rent or buy a house, a Dublin where our communities aren’t divided by social class.

There is something very bleak about the threat of annihilation of an entire country filtered disproportionately through the lens of the cost of petrol and diesel. The energy crisis is real and serious but so is the threat to our shared humanity. www.rte.ie/news/ireland...

Fuel price protests causing second day of disruption

There are delays to public transport in Dublin city and fuel depots in Galway and Limerick have been blocked as fuel price protests cause a second day of disruption around the country.

Hi, I’m Janet and I’m running to be your next TD for Dublin Central. Part of that means introducing myself on as many doors as possible, but it’s not something I usually do online, so bear with me while I get used to this!

We are sickened by the reports yesterday in The Guardian that a private jet owned by one of Donald Trump’s friends was not only used to deport Palestinians back to the occupied West Bank but that this jet was allowed to fuel in Shannon Airport.

Hours earlier, they had been sitting with their wrists and ankles shackled on the plush leather seats of a private jet owned by the Florida property tycoon Gil Dezer, a longtime business partner of Donald Trump.

It's not acceptable that the only way to get live updates on public transport is by having an account on X which is now under investigation for CSAM. TFI and Irish Rail need to start providing accessible and reliable updates on their own platforms instead of relying on X. #SpeirGorm

Ourselves, @dublincommuters.bsky.social, @galwaycommuters.bsky.social, & Cork Commuter Coalition wrote to Iarnród Éireann & the NTA today, asking them to cease posting real-time service updates exclusively on X. This vital info should be widely available. Read below: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

But it won't be. The draft strategy has been with Seán Canney for 9 months. Even if it's approved soon, there's nothing to suggest that it won't be implemented at the same glacial pace. Meanwhile, they've cancelled the pilot which was supposed to deliver cameras last year.

The Green Party condemns the unilateral and illegal action of the U.S. in attacking Venezuela. The most pressing humanitarian issue is the welfare of people in Venezuela and to protect against violence and unrest in the country in response to the actions of the U.S.

Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Everyone has been affected, or knows someone who has been effected, by accidents on our roads. Sadly, the number of deaths on Irish roads has been rising for the past number of years.

Let's explore the Green credentials of Heather Humphreys - The woman former GP member Brian Leddin thinks should be president. She advocated for an increased burn period during her time as Minister for Heritage, as well as prolonging the period during which hedgerows could be cut. #Spéirgorm 1/n
