people make a big deal about sony killing physical media but when i was a kid they distributed video games in the form of giant glowing cubes that descended unexpectedly from the sky with only a disembodied voice offering a warning about the incoming game and we were all generally fine with that

if i had a nickel for every time konami released a gameboy installment of one of their long-running series that was both spectacularly good and considered non-canon i'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot and honestly considering konami's business decisions it's not even weird that it happened twice

most people don't realize that miyamoto musashi was just an edo-period fitness guru trying to sell his secret course that the daimyo don't want you to know about but it all starts to make sense when you realize that MBAs think the book of five rings is some kind of secret genius business manual

I'm reading Miyamoto Musashi's Book of Five Rings and I feel like he's fucking with me. There's a lot of swordfighting techniques he mentions in this book and then he goes "I will not go into detail" or "I will teach you this in person." Then he dies. We'll never find out what that means

my the library of babel consists of a segment of floorplan (the structure of the library repeats endlessly), a random encounter table, and an app that generates the contents of a book plus a real-time online database of each book's generative seed and its location in the library

They always arrive bone weary, talking about a stairway with missing steps, which was nearly the death of them. They talk to the librarian about galleries and staircases. Sometimes they pick out the nearest book and leaf through it in search of shameful words.
