Chasing the shiny bits in the dark. Punishing my legs for not being rocket packs. Passionate about density, transit, walkability, and cycling infrastructure. Recovered “avid cyclist”. Big YIMBY. Seattle, Capitol Hill, but I’m not cool. He/him.

The Yale slip lane is now permanently closed, with Boren handling all I-5 traffic! We had a great time meeting the SDOT crew and can't wait to see the improvements this will bring for the L8! We'll head back down later today to share some more photos after everything is fully installed.

The obvious difference, which totally justifies Harrell’s actions, is that he is a man. Wilson, meanwhile, is a woman. Lending further credence still to Harrell’s behavior is that he’s a home-owning, car-driving, wealthy centrist. Wilson is a renter, a bus-rider, leftist - suspicious.

When Bruce Harrell was mayor, SPD kept information around a potential serial killer in Capitol Hill and First Hill from the public for a number of weeks, something that did not get as much media attention as a press conference being delayed for three hours. www.capitolhillseattle.com/2024/05/poli...

Police were able to trace the ax to a February purchase at the Lowe’s store on Rainier Ave. Kryger was identified as the purchaser after a department of corrections officer recognized him from images police obtained of the home improvement store transaction.

Diaz said that SPD detectives were watching area streets and parks at night looking for a suspect but did not warn the public.

“We don’t know if would be homeless or anybody walking in that area at night,” Diaz said of the suspect’s possible targets during a press conference announcing Kryger’s arrest. “He was potentially looking,” Diaz said. “I think that potentially stopped what was another homicide,” he said.

POSITED: the primary task of any Odyssey adaptation is not to get things right, but to kick ass flaminghydra.com/issue-618/#f...

That, I'd argue, is the experience to replicate in any adaptation of Homer's Odyssey-not so much the particulars of Poseidon's grudge or Penelope's dream, but the mood. Any adaptation of The Odyssey lives or dies by its ability to kick ass. It can develop or dismiss any parts of the source material as it sees fit in order to kick the maximum possible amount of ass. It can take liberties, and indeed it will have to. It can commit the sins of sentimentality or bad dialogue, sins at which a scholar of the poem might cringe hard enough to herniate a disc, as long as it kicks ass while doing so. Wilson watched Christopher Nolan's Odyssey and saw the missing wheels on the Trojan horse; I saw a dozen men packed into that big horse for days, pissing and shitting all over each other, puking at the stench, gasping in a panic for air. I was right there in that horse with them. I did not know how we'd survive.
It kicked ass. The whole film did.

TODAY: @raxkingisdead.bsky.social on Oh Brother Where Art Thou?'s thrillingly loose, modern and musical adaptation of The Odyssey. "It can develop or dismiss any parts of the source material as it sees fit in order to kick the maximum possible amount of ass." flaminghydra.com/issue-618/#f...

My tattoo artist just reposted this enthusiastically endorsing the messaging "what next should I have a computer that eats my dinner and fucks my wife?"

I have no idea what platform this is from. But it's from a tattoo artist saying AI art sucks. I'm not typing all this out, someone else can alt4me or whatever.

I'm not trying to be "revolutionary" or "subversive" by being trans. I had gender dysphoria, and this is what fixed it. I wanted to be a girl as long as I remember. I'm way happier now that I can be. I'm not trying to make a political statement about gender by existing.

That "cringe" nonbinary xenogender
genderfuck therian who uses
neopronouns and may or may not go

revolutionary and subversive than a
binary trans person who aggressively
reproduces the cis status quo and
shames anyone who doesn't do the
same.

someone should write a dystopian sci-fi novel about a group of super-rich people who all lie to each other about having read dystopian sci-fi novels, and set off a tragicomic chain of world-destroying events through their complete misunderstanding of every single core message in dystopian sci-fi
