good reminder that before the counting is over, election results don’t tighten. at no point is anyone trailing. nobody moves closer. they’re just tabulating the polls. it’s a fixed number that just isn’t done yet. to say otherwise is bad journalism but even worse math.

🤯 Rep. Max Miller's interview with Jake Tapper was one of the most self-destructive things I've ever witnessed on cable news. Here's the whole thing:

Bernie Moreno is GOP Representative Max Miller's father-in-law. Miller is credibly accused of pouring boiling water on his wife and breaking his 2 year old daughter's collarbone. Moreno refuses to denounce his son-in-law. Tells you all you need to know about Bernie Moreno's ethics and morals.
The City Park bandstand is set to be demolished ahead of a full reconstruction — but first, the city has to wait for its tenants to vacate the premises.

this should be a much bigger story imo in normal times, this would result in a president literally being impeached for illegal impoundment of congressionally appropriated funds
Congress appropriated billions of dollars for new transit projects. Why is the Trump administration spending none of it? Why are even transit projects in red states going unfounded? New reporting in @nytimes.com (gift link): www.nytimes.com/2026/07/27/u...
Replaced one of our cars with a cargo bike over a month ago. Despite the heatwave and the terrible drivers here, the car hasn’t moved ever since and we’ve done trips that we would have never considered before. A cargo bike not only replaces your car, it makes all trips fun and creates opportunities.
Lol, it's "extreme" to not drive a giant SUV around to the grocery store and to drop your kids off at school. Anyway, this is a great reminder that e-bikes are an incredibly powerful tool for replacing car trips. People aren't going from acoustic to e-bike, they're going from car to e-bike.
And there it is: Denver (DIA) hits 100° for the 2nd time in 5 days, breaking the old daily record of 99° (1963). Reminder: Denver averages less than one 100° day/year long-term, and <2 in the 30-year (1990-2020) window. #COwx
Seeing everywhere on fire this week rather makes me wish a lot more people had taken this extreme step a long time ago.

Replacing something that is a massive inconvenience and expense to own and maintain with something that can do most of the same daily tasks without the expense and inconvenience isn’t extreme, it’s just the prudent thing to do.

If you live in a suburb with a lot of quiet back roads and some okay bike infrastructure around major streets an ebike is an extremely affordable and powerful car replacement. Carrying cargo and kids can take some adjustment, but you’re nearly as fast as a car and way more flexible.

Flip the script so that what's extreme is requiring people to buy a $50,000, dinosaur-juice-burning, 6000-lb machine to take the kids to school or get a gallon of milk... ...while riding a $5,000, 70-lb bike powered by a combo of a trickle of electricity and your own two legs is just normal.

When Democrats take power, they must immediately cancel all of Elon Musk’s government welfare checks. Like and repost if you want this to happen.

We watched Trump's dangerous and deranged speech so you don't have to. Here are the moments you need to know about:
An audio version of my book (read by a real human, Jeanie Fisher) is now available for free on BARD for people with disabilities that make reading print difficult. Huge thanks to the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library who produced it as part of their work to record books from local authors
MAINE— Killer ICE Agent’s ex: “He wanted me to lie about his character. I won’t. He abused me and my daughter… I’ve waited years to speak my truth, and now a man is dead.” They are hiring the worst of the worst.
The ex-wife of the Maine ICE officer who killed Joan Sebastián Guerrero went to the press and confirmed his identity. “Ashley Brouillette told the Portland Press Herald in a phone interview Thursday afternoon that her ex-husband called admitting to the shooting and defending his actions.”
President Trump used a primetime address to make false claims, threaten news outlets, and release documents that misleadingly suggest Colorado's public voter rolls were "compromised" by China.
Oyer: "2 days after Blanche was confirmed as deputy AG, he fired me from my position as DOJ's career pardon attorney. I declined to rubber stamp a favor for a friend of the president, and it cost me my job. Mr Blanche's office had asked me to restore the gun rights of a convicted domestic abuser..."
Ossoff: "Tonight I heard a failed president desperately casting out for excuses to meddle in the upcoming election if he can, or to discredit the result when he loses decisively as I expect he will"
Blanche slips! 😬 KENNEDY: Are you and President Trump friends? BLANCHE: I'm his lawyer. Was his lawyer.
This is VERY interesting — one of many streets that Montreal has been successfully pedestrianizing for years now, had CARS RETURN this summer. People-levels and sales are way down. Interestingly the story uses “closed to pedestrians” to describe the returning cars. People-streets mean business.
