I need to shoutout my young students at Eastern High School, who have been working hard this month to revive their school newspaper! They were very excited to receive their press badges today. I am extremely proud of them!!!!

A typical American soccer story. Big event (in his case, a stadium opening) drives up press demand and the people who did all the work to cover the team when they weren't big time get pushed out. This is garbage.

the league tried its damnedest to mess this up, and if rodman didn't have the connection to dc and the community of supporters at audi field, she would be yet another star leaving. they'll tout this as a league-wide win, it is not, the win is the property of the women's soccer community in dc.

Finally, the nightmare scenarios can end and we can reset the doomsday clock. The Washington Spirit have announced that Trinity Rodman has signed a new deal that will keep her at the club through the 2028 season. The announcement was held at BMO Stadium with Rodman coming down from USWNT camp in Carson, CA to attend the event. Washington blasted a 'special announcement' to media and fans, noting that club owner Michele Kang and new president of soccer operations Haley Carter would be speaking.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

DDOT continues to publish before/after analyses of safety projects. The numbers for the 9th street NW bike lanes suggest that we should be doing these projects everywhere we can. Crashes plummeted, pedestrian and bike traffic skyrocketed, and vehicle travel times dropped.

Very sad to hear this. Mayor Rusk was there commenting on B&RU when we had maybe 5 other people doing so because the teams we covered were having nightmarish seasons. His love for the sport and the stories he shared with that community were remarkable.

The District Press staff was sorry to learn today that longtime commenter (and former mayor of Albuquerque) David Rusk has passed away. He was a valued and supportive member of our community for many years, and our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.

This one is tough. David was so kind and always very generous with his time. Unfailing love and support for DC soccer teams. Had stories for days and a unique perspective a lot of us are going to miss.

It has boggled my mind since I was sixteen that the moral hazard of driving does not weigh on literally everyone all the time. I hate it! I don't want to risk ruining or ending someone's life just to get to the damn grocery store, but where I live, I have to, every day.

You can be the safest, most attentive driver in the world and still pose a massive risk to other road users. That’s because cars and car dependency are inherently dangerous. This doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you drive, but I do think that drivers should acknowledge their role in this system.
