If the Minister for Justice wants- in a strictly non-sexual way- to touch me, he doesn’t get to do it without my consent. We’ve all agreed as a society that’s the definition of assault. Children have this same set of rights.

Look, I fully get how defensive people get over this, but simple reality is that when people start punching down on one minority they end up punching down on others. An important thing to note in this period of fascism is that fascists are historically not good at government. Their entire shtick is "oh yeah? Well that's so-and-so's fault." Actual governance requires you to have a solution that is not "well let's fuck those marginalized guys up."

Re the Sally Rooney news, I was looking up data on arrests under terrorism legislation the other day, and hadn't quite realised how utterly bonkers the effect of the Palestine Action prohibition had been. That big purple spike is basically all PA-related arrests.
